Obama’s Selective Moral Authority

I often wonder what provokes President Obama to speak out about some events, while he elects to remain silent about others.

During the Sandra Fluke-Rush Limbaugh brouhaha, President Obama called the Georgetown student to offer words of encouragement.  But the President is speechless when conservative women such as Sarah Palin, Nikki Haley, Ann Coulter or S.E. Cupp, are bashed and trashed in the media or when his million dollar donor, Bill Maher, calls Mr. Obama’s opponents “racist.”

Choosing to speak out when questioned rather than remaining silent during the Trayvon Martin Florida investigation, President Obama said “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.  I think [Trayvon’s parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”

Bad things happen everyday.  I know that.  But how about the seriousness of innocent victims caught in the cross-fire of gang violence, Mr. President.  Just google “baby killed in crossfire” and it’s frightening to see how many innocent lives are taken this way.

For example, there was nine-month old Delric Miller who was killed last year in Detroit.  Two-year old Keria Holmes was killed in New Orleans and pregnant mother of 13, thirty-three year old Zurana Horton was shot in the head in front of a school after she threw herself over a group of children.  And just last week, 40-year old Justin Ferrari was shot and killed in Seattle while driving his parents and two children from the airport by a reported “black male in his 20s” who was firing a gun at people with whom he was having a verbal altercation.

Again, before having all the facts, the President was quick on the draw to opine on the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. by the Cambridge police.  “I don’t know – not having been there and not seeing all the facts – what role race played in that, but I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home.”  While admitting not having all the facts, the President had no problem calling the police action “stupid.”

Remember Mr. Obama’s support for the Occupy Wall Street bums last October when he said, “we’re on their side?”  But has he come out and denounced the recent stabbing in Chicago of a police officer by one of these thugs?  I haven’t heard a word from him.  If you haven’t seen his Press Secretary’s lame attempt to answer the question by Wendell Goler, “The President has voiced support for the Occupy folks in the past.  Did their actions in Chicago sour his support?” you can check it out here.

The Administration was instrumental in freeing Chinese dissident, Chen Cuangcheng, but I’d like to know exactly what the Administration is doing to insure the release of Dr. Shakil Afridi inPakistan.  If you don’t know Dr. Afridi, it was with his assistance that our Navy Seals were able to locate and kill Osama Bin Laden last year.  Apparently, the Senate Appropriations Committee has said it will cut US aid to Pakistan by $1 million for each year of Dr. Afridi’s sentence, a whopping $30 million out of billions.  I also hear a couple of mumblings from Secretary of State Clinton.  Ok.  I’m not a diplomat.  I know it.  But I still don’t get why we’re giving any money to a country that knew where Bin Laden was and did nothing to help us. Maybe the Administration is doing something behind the scenes that we don’t know about.  But if they’re not, they should.

With the President, it seems to be hit and miss when it comes to his outrage over selected events, or, at least, his willingness to speak out.  Just ask the Iranian protesters who desperately sought some sign from our President in 2009 as they tried to oust the mullahs from power.  The President woefully failed to make a difference during that moment in history when he had the opportunity to make a significant change in the Middle East.  If you don’t believe me, read what the brilliant Charles Krauthammer had to say about the President’s foreign policy.

I don’t get it, but if you do, God bless you.

Author Bio:

For over twenty years, Leona has tried to heed her husband’s advice, “you don’t have to say everything you think.” She’s failed miserably. Licensed to practice law in California and Washington, she works exclusively in the area of child abuse and neglect. She considers herself a news junkie and writes about people and events on her website, “I Don’t Get It,” which she describes as the “musings of an almost 60-year old conservative woman on political, social and cultural life in America.” It’s not her intention to offend anyone who “gets it.” She just doesn’t. Originally from Brooklyn, and later Los Angeles, she now lives with her husband, Michael, on a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest, which she describes as a bastion of liberalism.

President Obama may be a politician but that doesn’t excuse his
selective musings on social issues that have nothing to do with the job
he so badly wanted. He has been campaigning since he won the election
and has done little, if anything, to fulfill his duty as president.
To me, he sounds like a guy with a chip on his shoulder who has exceeded his pay grade.

IF OBAMA HAD ANY MORAL AUTHORITY,  HE AND HOLDER WOULD TURN THEMSELVES IN FOR THEIR NUMEROUS FEDERAL FELONIES

Obama’s priorities in speaking out are defined by (1) his wish to remake America into a worker’s paradise of socialism …. and (2) his self-aggrandized view of his place in history.  Virtually every statement he chooses to make is intended to advance one or the other of these two goals.

You have to wonder why we continue to compare Obama to other presidents.  When will the press, conservative that is, understand that Obama sees’ nothing from the lens than anyone of the other presidents have ever looked through.  We assume he wants the same things for the country that all other presidents have wanted.  I see Bill O, on Fox make this mistake night after night.  Is it too much to believe that we have elected a socialist marxist.  Can anyone say the words?  Have the political correctness group got you by the crotch so bad that you don’t see what’s in front of you.  Wait until the, oops too late now,  second term.

Krauthammer for President.  He could get this country back in shape.  He says what the means and means what he says.  No tippy-toeing around with Charles Krauthammer!!

Has Obama bowed to any Arabs lately?

Why in the world would the Pres speak out about the “girls” of the right when they  are called what they are and constantly call him worse names?

    • Rick Johnson

What worse names do they call him?

President Obama is a politician.  I have never seen a politician who was not selective in his or her moral outrage.
