Usually, no matter the weight of an issue, I try to add a little levity in my writing. Goodness knows, the country is in desperate straights, but sometimes humor provides momentary relief.
However, there’s little to find humorous when writing about a seriously corrupt and politicized Department of Justice.
I first want to remind everyone that the Attorney-General of the United States and chief law enforcement officer in our country.
Eric Holder is not some mid-level, politically-appointed hack; he’s not an ambassador in some exotic and remote country enjoying the return on investment of contributions to the Obama political machine; he’s not even just a plain old cabinet secretary who may run amuck but is limited to the confines of that particular department.
Attorney-General Eric Holder is the chief law enforcement officer in the United States.
Mr. Holder’s judgment during his three and a half year tenure has been clearly influenced by his ideology…or he simply does not possess the intellect for rational analysis and/or the intestinal fortitude to stand up to political pressure. His desire to try the 911 foreign-born terrorists in New York City and provide them with the full constitutional rights of an American citizen was, at best, terribly misguided.
Attorney-General Holder is very likely a racist. Evidence continues to mount with each month passing. Claims have been made by reasonable and believable sources that in Holder’s DOJ, by definition, minorities can only be the victims of voting rights violations, never the perpetrators. More recently in the Trayvon Martin case, either the DOJ wasn’t aware of the emerging evidence, or, worse, they knew and still chose to pursue a hate crime investigation.
The evolving ‘fast and furious’ scandal is slowly and painfully revealing a cesspool of lies, cover-ups and evasion so typical of Washington. Presently, one can reasonably conclude that Mr. Holder has already perjured himself. And, there is no doubt that the DOJ has and is stonewalling congressional committees’ subpoenas. Mr. Holder could be held in contempt of congress any day now.
For reasons mostly political the fact that our Attorney-General has flawed judgment, is likely a racist and hovers perilously close to criminal prosecution seem to matter to few.

Maybe the election in November will ‘solve’ the problem, but the question lingers. How did a country of supposedly rational citizens allow this farce to develop and linger at the DOJ? How did this country elect Barack Obama?
