Hi, everyone. This is John Daly. I'm here with the Daily Express for day two of the Principles for Summit in Washington, D.C. Things wrapped up a couple of hours ago. It was a long day, as they usually go at this annual summit. The organizers like to fit a lot into the weekend.

One noticeable difference between last year's event and this one, besides the venue event, being different and the ballroom being larger to accommodate everyone, was that there was a lot more security. There were metal detectors along with more security guards than I had seen in the past.

And I think a big reason for that is that a lot of people in the MAGA media were really drawing a lot of attention to this year's event. And not in a good way. By design, Principles First is held in Washington DC at the same time as CPAC that's Matt Schlapp's um annual gathering so
On a special episode of the Daly Express, I look at some highlights from Day One of the 2025 Principles First Summit in Washington DC. I also interview The Dispatch’s Stephen Hayes and National Review’s Noah Rothman.
That was a nice video. I learned a lot. I think I enjoyed the Hayes segment the most. I liked seeing behind the curtain. I can see how certain contributors cater to the audience and to a network. So on Fox, you probably won't be on as much if you criticize Trump a lot. I still think Bret B is a good reporter and I do have a faith in him. Some of the others not so much. I used to religiously watch The Five every weekday. I have cut down on that. I can't take all the ass kissing of Trump. There's no push back on him on anything except from Jessica or Harold. There's been times where I am nodding my head on what Jessica says. It throws me off. It's funny. I still remember a segment from 2-3 yrs ago. Juan W basically said to Greg G that he was Trump's puppet and Greg got the angriest I have ever seen. It showed me that what Juan said was true. I know soon after that, Juan was pushed off the show. Can't be a coincidence.
Greg is absolutely Trump's puppet, because it's ratings gold to be one. I'll give you a behind-the-scenes related story, from someone very close to the situation:
Greg was pretty NeverTrump until Trump won in 2016, and his weekend show at the time suffered greatly because of it. Jeanine Pirro's Trump-sycophantic show was on right before his, and was pulling in crazy strong numbers.
Trump, certainly Musk, are eccentric men but highly intelligent and there is method to the 'madness'. Bold, ballsy, and brave-- not necessarily bad. Different. Hold judgement to let the patterns unfold, we need the public educated- it is crucial for our own good. Victor Davis Hanson gives an excellent perspective and overview, in my opinion.
I don't believe Trump is highly intelligent. He's extraordinarily charismatic, and a very talented salesman, but neither he, nor Musk, has shown any depth of knowledge on serious issues facing our country. I don't understand this notion that we need to reserve judgment on Trump 10 years after he entered politics. We all know what he's about. We know his limitations and how easily manipulated he is. There's never a game of 4D chess being played by that guy, at least outside of political optics.
I do see your points, and suppose there is a lot of truth to them. Maybe to clarify, I should have stated he is a clever manipulator and if put to good use could be beneficial-- only time will tell.
Principles first was this groups purpose. John Daly recorded all the speakers that spoke against President Trump. If they represented this group then who were of a four in the election. Camilla Harris? I say yes this group consisted of all liberals but not far left liberals.
John, when you were talking to the dispatch founder, I wish you would’ve asked him. What did he think of this meeting -you missed your opportunity.
Yes, principles consistent with Reagan conservatism.
>>John Daly recorded all the speakers that spoke against President Trump.
Oh, there were several more that spoke out against Trump. Lol. Trump, in many ways, is the opposite of Reagan conservatism. Ukraine is a solid example.
>>If they represented this group then who were of a four in the election. Camilla Harris?
Not sure I understand your question? Are you asking who they voted for? If so, I'm sure some voted for Harris, some voted for neither, and a few may have even voted for Trump.
>> I say yes this group consisted of all liberals but not far left liberals.
No. The vast majority of people here (including the speakers) are disenchanted conservatives and Republicans.

Steve showed up for his segment, then left (I caught him as he was leaving for my interview). He didn't see any more of the summit.
As far as President Trump promising on day, one to bring down Prices. He put in motion that promised by removing everything that Biden did to cause inflation and other things.
Technically, on day one he fulfilled his promise. It’ll take time, but prices will come down.
Also to my amazement, he matched tariffs with the world with the hopes other countries remove their tariffs. That truly would be free trade.

He hasn't done anything to roll back Biden's contributions to inflation. Most of the inflation had nothing to do with Biden anyway.

What are you talking about? Tariffs are inflationary. If he gets his way, prices will soar. It's simple math.

His tariffs have only created retaliatory tariffs. That's a trade war, the opposite of free trade.

He noticed and "adjusted". Look where he is now.
Thank you for posting that Mr. Daly. It was very enlightening.

A very clever manipulator for sure. And yes, if he used that talent for good, we'd be in a much better spot.
