Excellent point Bernie. Putin reminds me of ( this will take you back) little Markie, banging his spoon on his high chair and demanding, " I want my Maypo!!!!". This kind of spirit in power is always dangerous but it raises two questions in my mind. First, why do the allegedly sane democratic nations uniformly fail to stand up to stop these tyrants before they cause immense pain and damage? Second, how indoctrinated does one have to be to not see the similarities between Putin and Trump? It's like they are soulmates who are different only in that one is bound by a liberal democratic country and the other is not. The lessons of history never stop communicating their wisdom. It is we who suffer because we grow weary of listening to them.

Mr. Blankenship, there are very few similarities between Trump and Putin. Maybe a couple.

I'm not a Trumpian, and I hope he doesn't get the GOP Presidential nomination in 2024. But....

Trump never invaded a country and killed innocent civilians.

Trump never jailed people in America who didn't agree with him or spoke out against him or his policies.

Trump never killed his own people.

And you hinting that Trump would be like Putin if he were not bound by "a liberal Democratic county" is presuming that Trump would have no problem killing people who disagree with him.

And that's beyond ridiculous.

Your comments are just as the over-the-top incendiary as the comments of people who compared Donald Trump to Adolph Hitler.

Sure, both Trump and Putin are egomaniacs who put their own interests above the interest of the country they lead. And both are men with who I would never willingly be in the same room with.

They are two scoundrels. No doubt. But one is a murderer, and one is not.

Saying Putin and Trump have similarities is like saying I have similarities to Lebron James just because we both have a nose, two ears and a mouth.

You missed the part about “ bound by a liberal democracy”. That makes all the difference. Who are we to say what Trump might do if he was free to actually do the things he has expressed admiration for in Putin? One difference, Putin is smarter than Trump and has been playing him for years.

I didn't miss "bound by a liberal democratic country."

I referenced it in my original reply.

And you still hint we don't know if Trump would have acted as murderous as Putin if given a chance. And that is preposterous.

Trump Derangement Syndrome does strange things to people.

And that's sad.

That's pure conjecture on your part. Some people think the opposite and that Putin was being played by Trump.

Conjecture on your part as well. I stand by my comment.
