This was an interesting interview. If Trump won't be grooming Vance for President though, isn't that ultimately a good thing for Conservatism? If someone isn't a clear successor post-Trump, it would then open things up for 2028. So ironically, Trump's fealty demands & egotism could ultimately work in Conservatism's favor. And as for those demanding literally anyone else - I think the very boldest move for the Dems would be to make RFK the nominee.

I think people thought I was being sarcastic a few weeks ago in the Q&A, when I said the most likely successor to Trump would be Don Jr... But I wasn't really joking. So no, I don't have much hope for the Republican party rediscovering its conservative roots anytime soon... which is devastating to our country's fiscal situation.

Nominating RFK Jr. would be bold (I'll give you that). But the guy's a nut, and they'd be much better off nominating someone who isn't. There's a huge appetite out there for a normal, non-grating, at least minimally fit and competent leader. If the Dems actually produce one, they'll win in a landslide.

I was thinking the same thing regarding Don Jr a little earlier today, and I think you are on to something. The ONLY person I can see Trump allowing to take up any of the oxygen in his room could be Don Jr. Would be interesting to see Vance and Don Jr duking it out to succeed the to the MAGA throne in 4 years.....

If it's Don Jr. vs Vance, Don Jr. will win the primary in a landslide.

// Don Jr

This would fit into the category of "just when you think it can't get worse". For many reasons though, I'm optimistic he won't happen. But forget Vance vs Don Jr...how about Don Jr vs Gavin for Pres, with K Guilfoyle as judge! Lord help us.

Trump picked Vance because he wanted a MAGA bootlicker, who would neither challenge nor upstage Trump. AB is also correct that the grooming of Vance as the new leader of the MAGA movement will be stifled by Trump's ego. His ego cannot permit any other star, or even rising star. If Vance starts to show any sort of independent action, Trump will throw him under the bus, as he's done with pretty much everyone who has ever worked for him.

Agreed. Once he admitted that he, as VP, would have defied his Constitutional duty to certify the election, he made crystal clear that he'll only ever validate Trump's worst instincts.

The first portion of tonight’s speech was golden for his personal recounting of the assassination attempt and holding and kissing Corey Comperatore’s firefighter’s helmet. The crowd was very moved.

The second half fell apart. Half teleprompter and half rambling with lowered energy. No one ever says, “I wish this political speech would last almost two hours.”

AB Stoddard needs to get her eyes examined. Joe Biden's NATO trip showed how completely diminished he'd become. President Biden's wandering around having to be corralled by the new young Italian PM women was a good example that AB must have overlooked. Typical leftist. BR

She was talking about the press conference afterwards.

I agree with most of what AB said in this conversation, but I will agree with you Bob, that I wasn't impressed by Biden's press conference at the NATO meeting. Referring to VP Trump and calling Zelensky Putin pretty much destroyed the "he just had one bad night" argument.

The "Putin" flub was brutal beyond words.
