Regardless of which extremely unworthy individual wins this election the United States of America has the Constitution. Whomever holds the office of President is limited by the Constitution. The late Dr. Charles Krauthammer said - "It's policy, not Armageddon." The next four years could be rough. The United States of America will survive.

Mr. Goldberg, excellent observations. Thank you.

It ain't over till it's over. I have the feeling that when this election is over, it ain't going to be over.

Bernie,

True journalists don’t overreact in haste and emotion. They investigate and confirm the facts before reporting on them. Thank’s for being one of those people.

Two things Bernie. 9/11 bringing down some buildings was not the worst part of 9/11. And however dark a future Trump paints about a Harris victory, I'd say that Harris claiming a Trump victory ends democracy, puts all his political adversaries in prison, has the government monitoring pregnancies, the total ban of abortion, is just as dark a picture or maybe even a smidgeon more.

Good grief, Bernie!

>> If Kamala Harris wins, and the United States is doomed ... why does about half the country still want her to win?

Really!? ... 93% of legacy media, 80% of university professors, all buy X social media... on-and-on, are ALL in the tank for Democrats beating the drum with $billions of ads telling everyone "it's doomsday.. he's a Nazi, dictator... hide your children!!"

Only half of the country!!

God bless you Bernie and thank you for your continued words of wisdom. Regardless of who wins (tomorrow ... or the weeks following) I don't think I will be sent to the Gulags, or will worry about being forced to attend a Drag Queen Story Hour. As a person of Christian faith, my role is to vote ... and then pray for the leadership in office.... in all levels of Government. I did that during Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden. And will continue to do this for __________________. I still can't believe that out of 330M people, this is this best 2 we've got.

Great article Bernie, very accurate. Who knows if either of these dotes believe what they say? I for one can’t wait till it’s over. As a conservative and former Republican I remember his fun and invigorating it was to have conversations with fellow republicans and conservatives. Now at my barber shop, ran by a trump supporter (otherwise wonderful guy) and many customers Trumpers, it’s like we live on different planets. I couldn’t even get them to agree that Trump talking about hurricanes being controlled was insane, they said “well they’ve been manipulating the weather.” I gave up. Why argue at this point? Bernie, I’m going to borrow your saying but tweak it a bit. And this hurts being a conservative and former republican.

Kamala Harris is a cackling, left wing hack who will say anything to win an election. And I hope she wins in a landslide. Well… maybe not landslide. Maybe just by a squeaker. But I hope the congress goes red to essentially cancel her out. That in my opinion would be the least bad result of election night. Never thought I’d ever be rooting against a republican but boy I think I may be this time. Discouraging times…

The country is not the problem, It's all about who will be in control.

Harris won't be held accountable, Trump will.

When was Trump held accountable for anything he did in his first term?

We must have been living in different countries. I remember the news from a different perspective.

The guy treated a global pandemic as if it were a joke, literally tried to overturn U.S. democracy, and caused an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. And yet, he's once again the Republican nominee for president, and may very likely be the president-elect in just a few days.

The only real accountability for him has come from election results, which 70-80% of his party still don't believe were real.

If your argument is that the media hounded him, and demonstrated bias in the process, that's true. But accountability for his actions? I've seen very little.

I appreciate your point of view but you have simply stated democratic talking points as I believe that's what you want to believe.

There is more to that story.

I know, I know. Anything critical of Trump is a Democratic talking point.

You have repeatedly dodged the question: specifically, how has Trump been held accountable as POTUS and how will he be accountable as POTUS if he wins on Tuesday?

Then President Trump has not been held accountable for what happened on 01/06/21 or for trying to condition Congressionally mandated aid to Ukraine on the pres. of Ukraine getting dirt on then candidate Biden. Yes, you can say that the fact that he was twice impeached is accountability but he was acquitted both times.

Trump has largely escaped accountability for things he has said and done because his base of at least a large plurality of the GOP is vociferously loyal to him in spite of, and often because of, how he has behaved and GOP bigwigs, with very few exceptions, are too cowardly to hold him responsible.

On the other hand, if VP Harris or any other candidate for office who is not in the Trump camp behaved 10% as egregiously as Trump, he or she would be hounded out of politics.

If Trump is re-elected, this time he may well appoint bootlickers as cabinet members and as advisors. Then, who will persuade him that pulling out of NATO is destructive or that pulling out of S. Korea is a VERY bad idea or that letting Putin conquer large parts of the Ukraine if no the entire country or that he shouldn't order the military or the national guard to shoot protesters in the legs or that Putin is an adversary and cannot be trusted?

There have been many reports that during Trump's presidency that he was continually talked out of extreme measures.

Bernard - you didn't mention the Cackler's lineage. She was not brought up middle class as she lied about, both parents where professors and lived the high life associated with non-American professors. Her Jamaican father from a family of slave traders was a socialist (commonly called Communist now days) and had a profound effect summer vacationing in Jamaica with his family (not very middle class) until her Mother divorced him. She was raised in Montreal, Canada, the center of socialism in Canada. Avoiding these topics, by leftists media like yourself, cleanses the Cackler from her past. I remember JFK family life was widely reported along with Ronald Reagans marital past, but the checkered past of the Cackler somehow gets lost, just like here affair with the married Willie Brown and here 2 appointments to CA state posts, each with an annual salary of $100K, on top of her 6 digit salary working in San Francisco city government (again middle class?) . Strange how all those facts get lost polishing here middle-class upbringing. You are or were better than that Bernard. BR
