I'm good, Bernie. How about you?

SPEAKER 2
So far, so good. You know, we talk a lot about Donald Trump and Republicans. Let's start out talking, and we will again today. Let me warn everybody about that. But let's start out talking about Democrats. And forgive me for stating the obvious. The Democratic Party has a problem. Republicans, of course, don't like them. There's no bulletin there.

Civil War in the Democratic Party, Trump on Top, Violence Against Tesla, and More

Bernie and John talk about the Democrats' struggles, Trump trying to shape the country in his image, and terrorism against Tesla.

Welcome to episode 79 of Bernie Goldberg’s No BS Zone.

This week, Bernie and John discuss the Democrats trying to find their way, Trump viewing himself as King, anti-Musk terrorism, and more.

Yup, time does stand still for Bernie! Because, when B.R. Goldberg talks....people listen! :)

I'm old enough to appreciate that reference.

The political polarization of this country is very sad, and a prominent 2025 example of this is the now walked back Tim Walz insane comments celebrating the decline in Tesla stock.

This champion of the working class, wonderful, Midwest politician expressed glee that a portion of the pension portfolio of millions of middle class people had fallen in value.

Said differently, Walz is happy to see the value of pension investments fall as long as it hurts Elon Musk.

Yes, the self proclaimed knucklehead mostly walked it back, saying he probably should not have said it. Great judgment, Tim.

Others are happy to drive climate change spewing internal combustion engines rather than drive a Tesla, to the point of showing at best tepid opposition to the physical destruction of Teslas.

Lots of things wrong with politics these days, but if the Democrats are trying to show they have learned lessons from the 2024 election results, they have a funny way of expressing it.

Yes, and that is the reality of it all. I came across this today smack out of the OT(Old Testament) : For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow. That made me think a bit and say 'Hmmm' ...

Hegseth is a fool. A cocky, cavalier trigger-happy fool. Unqualified for this job is a no-brainer while the military brass is chewing down their fingernails with this amateur.

I also think you hit on something re: cheering for clearly illegal and unconscionable behaviour, lots of people don't like what's currently going on about the Trump administration, and they know they are effectively powerless to do anything about it.

So that's why they they laugh and cheer at these senseless acts of vandalism that in any other context, would be seen as deplorable.

Former Governor of Commie-fornia? I think that might have been a slip of the tongue?

John and Bernie, it's easy to punch down on Democrats when they aren't in office, because for the next three years they are in opposition and don't have any leverage.

That is a distraction from the current cluster-f**k that is going on within the current administration. Siding with Russia to give them concessions is an absolute national disgrace - AGAIN! Every departed president would be rolling in their graves if they knew what was going on now.

What kind of precedent does that set to wanna-be tinpot dictators who would like to do their own "lebensraum"?

Trump is a magnet for you. You opened saying yo7 were starting with the Dems but less than 5 minutes in, you were on Trump.

Yes, Trump is the sitting U.S. president, whose party holds both branches of Congress. He's making news just about every day, while trying to fundamentally change the U.S. economy and U.S. foreign policy, and blatantly use the legal system to punish people and organizations he doesn't like.

The Dems, on the other hand, are largely lost in the wilderness and screaming from the sidelines.

Which of those two warrants more attention?

The American citizens want results without pain. There is no way to dismantle a bloated bureaucracy without pain. Trump is a narcissist,he has complete faith in himself. Believes that he can fix what’s wrong with the United States. And will do whatever he feels necessary. He doesn’t care about the republicans or the democrats. It’s who’s helping and who’s hindering. His last presidency relied on filling his cabinet with people he thought would help but instead threw up roadblocks. This time he bypassed the party and filled his cabinet with loyalists.

Is the pain worth it so far Eric?

Expand full comment

I didn’t vote for him, don’t like everything he’s doing, but smaller, less intrusive government is worth some pain. Just have to wait and see on that topic

Gavin Newsom might be “moderating his views” now, but make no mistake he is still a far left liberal at heart. He knows he can’t win as a liberal, so like every other Democrat candidate they move to the center during an election and then once they’ve won they govern from the far left. Happens every time.

BERNIE, you want more people to tune in? What type of people do you want to tune in?

That is my question?

To be clear, we welcome anyone who has any interest in what we have to say. But the people who are going to get the most out of it are those who value principled, intellectually honest and intellectually consistent political and media analysis.

Those hoping for partisan red-meat, glaring double-standards, and political sycophancy will assuredly be disappointed.
