Political issues don't matter. Trump's GOP has basically adopted the same strategy as the Democrats - glorifying victimhood. The message from the Woke Democrats as well as the MAGAfied GOP is the same (although the details are polar opposites): You are a victim. The other team is out to get you, and the only way to save yourself and the country is to support our team, regardless of polices or principles or hypocrisy.
This is why Trump keeps harping on the "stolen election" BS. I'm convinced even he doesn't believe he won, but it doesn't matter. It's a talking point to fuel his base's sense of victimhood, as well as to stroke his ego of course.
I thought Commentary's Abe Greenwald nailed it the other day:
"Most of the new right are progressives doing right wing cosplay. They have the progressive understanding of history and politics that sees everything through power, identity, and grievance. And they have the progressive allergy to books and ideas. But they defied popular codes of conduct and speech. And basically they just liked Trump, so they were in."
