Bernie/Bernie- I mention your name twice because you are two faced. You start seemingly trying to help Trump, suggesting changes to help Trump, then you do a 180 and trash him on every policy clarification you suggested. Which is it? I think you are a wolf in sheep's clothing, an old liberal talking head trick. I'm starting to think you are really part of the bias left media Pravda. You mention policies Trump's clarified as if that's a problem. After you suggested just last week he should modify his positions. Which is it, now you are the flip-flopper.

As a trusted left talking head, you never fail to raise Jan6 in every column. "deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol," The only deadly part was the point blank killing by a capital guard shooting a veteran protester. That murderer was NEVER held accountable for his murder, why do you never mention that? I think we know why, remembering the left always accuses Trump of what the Left is already guilty of doing. And you never mention Pelosi's mea copa on video admitting SHE is responsible for Jan6 by never calling in the 20K troops Trump offered to augment the keystone cops Capital Police.

Oh, yeah while you always condemn Trump, but you never mention the complete 180 degree flip-flop by your candidate, the Cackler. Fracking is now a good thing and fossil fuel is no longer the devil, tax relief is necessary - what a whopper, and the Cackler's sudden supports Israel? That one's a neck breaker. The Cackler and you will say anything to get her elected. Just like Lyin' Biden did. BR

PS - John Daly (the conservative one??) is no better, you never-Trumpers run in pairs. Let’s do a Jan6 sequel with a patriotic twist this time. And get Darth Vader’s spawn Rep. Cheney to reprise her left side position with the Cryin' Congressman Kinzinger from Illinios again. Sounds like a summer hit.

Are you seriously incapable of reading a byline, Bob?

Bob, please tell us you either a) were attempting to mock / parody a stereotypical MAGA-ite, or b) were heavily intoxicated, when you wrote this post.

While I'd love to write it off to substance abuse, I suspect it's unintentional self-parody -- everything form the cascading straw-men to the brain-dead conspiracy theories.

I didn’t write the column. Look at the byline.

The annoying thing is that if ANY other republican stood in favor of abortion the right wing mob media would eat them up, but the MAGA king as usual held by the cult, can never do any wrong. I was just thinking the other day if he ran as a progressive democrat and picked Bernie Sanders as his VP, the cult would convince themselves it was a good move. Realistically he’s actually closer to the MAGA worldview. All a joke. Can’t wait till this election is over. Do you think this desperation will do him any good?

Yep. He gets an internal pass on everything. Held to none of the standards that others are.

And no. I don't think any of this stuff will do him good. I think what can help him is Harris making some big mistakes (which hasn't happened yet), or some big event (like a terrorist attack).

I found it interesting that he was calling into the Fox News. The only people still watching Fox News are people who are going to vote for Trump anyway. So he gains no advantage by calling in....

It drives him nuts when Fox gives time -- specifically positive time -- to the Democrats. He needs all the adulation.

It still comes down to the state of our country when Trump was President vs what we don't know. What we don't know is what Comrade Kamala will do to our country. What the left can't seem to understand, is all DJT's banter does not mean anything. He's a businessman that ran the country like a business and it was good for pretty much everyone.

I disagree. His banter does mean something. So does all of his actions. QED

Bernie, you like trashing Trump. Now give us all the accolades you want to apply to Kamala Harris.

Conrad, I assume you've watched at least one episode of the No BS Zone, and thus have sufficient proof that Bernie and I are in fact two different people, right?

John, too. Face your fears. Who got murdered Jan6 besides the patriotic veteran protester? BR

Lol. What?

Ashli Babbitt was not murdered, nor was she a patriot. She was an insurrectionist who was lawfully killed by a police officer whose job it was to protect members of Congress, and who repeatedly warned her to stop as she was breaking her way through a barrier.

If you want to blame someone other than her for her death, blame the guy who drew her to the Capitol under the false premise that U.S. democracy had been stolen.

Expand full comment

It would have been justified if more than that one person had been shot. The Capitol Police had every right, nay their duty, to defend themselves and the sanctity of the democratic process. If they weren't armed with tear gas but had guns, they should have used them - first as a warning and then to kill. It's called self-defense and doing their jobs.

If an angry mob breached the White House grounds and headed toward the WH when the Pres. was there, they'd surely be tear gassed and, if necessary, mowed down.

Serious questions for you. Do you blame Hillary Clinton for Benghazi? Do you blame Joe Biden for the withdrawal debacle from Afghanistan? Do you blame Donald Trump for Jan6? Do you think Ashli Babbit has any responsibility for her own demise? QED

It's not a perfect comparison, but the people who cast Ashli Babbit as a murder victim remind me a lot of the people who cast Michael Brown as a murder victim.

Bernie - sooner or later you will have to stop mocking and just respond to your Jan6 commenters. BR

John - a very good article, but as Ronald Reagan famously said, “there you go again” berating Trump as other politicians have done the same as him without condemnation.

* In the 2019 Democratic debates, Kamala Harris practically called out Joe Biden for being a racist and a segregationist (two horrific allegations to make against someone).

That ultimately was forgotten about when she gleefully accepted his invitation to be on his ticket.

* In 2008 both Barack Obama were steadfastly against gay marriage. Yet, one term later they “evolved” into supporting it.

* In 2007 then candidate Obama said he couldn’t distance himself from his anti-American, racist “mentor” and Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Only to be concerned (politically expedient”) that he didn’t know that Wright had made such incendiary remarks (after nodding his head in Wright’s pew for almost 20 years) and then disowned him.

Trump is certainly not exclusive to looking back and changing positions on people and policies during a campaign.

Hi Vic. I didn't berate Trump. I mocked him. And I did the same, on this very website, for each example you listed.

As I recall, Bernie and John D did discuss Harris' whiplash 180's she done on issues like fracking, but that wasn't the focus of this piece.
