Thanks again Mr. Goldberg for calling political balls and strikes.

While I loathe Mr. Trump, and wish he would just go away, I acknowledge that what Bernie has written here rings true for me. We can seek out those who don’t broadcast their utter personal disdain about the man, and ask ourselves - is there is a middle ground to be found. Ask yourself, is this person trying to rile us up? If so, move on.

The sad thing is... this list barely scratches the surface. The media has done nothing but lie about the guy since he came down the escalator. The biggest one of all may be the Charlottesville hoax, when they claimed Trump called Nazi's and white supremacists 'good people' ... even though in the press conference where that supposedly happened he veered out of his way to say "when I talk about good people I'm not talking about the white supremacists and neo-nazi's - they deserve to be condemned totally'.

But even though he said that ...

-When Biden announced he was running for President he cited Trump calling Neo-Nazi's 'good people' as his #1 motivation to get into the race (and no reporter called out his lie)...

-And during one of the 2020 Presidential debates the moderator asked Trump why he 'has never' spoken out against the Neo-Nazi's.

Trump has broken our 'mainstream' press. They are all either deranged, or evil. I believe it is both.

<As the Wall Street Journal said in an editorial, “The judgment is overkill. None of Mr. Trump’s business partners lost money lending to him or claimed to have been deceived by his erroneous financial statements. No witness during the trial said his alleged misrepresentations changed its loan terms or prices, and there was no evidence that he profited from his alleged deceptions.”>

Once Trump's deceptive business practices became public it was only responsible to prosecute him. Did you read the judge's 91 page decision? Trump's deception wasn't a one-time occurrence or even occasional, but was SOP. Among the advantages his deception got him were more favorable loan terms. Loan pools were drawn. Otherwise, no one was hurt. But they could have been.

Other than that no one was hurt? If I get drunk at a bar and drive home successfully obeying all traffic regs but get pulled over for a burnt out tail light just as I enter my driveway, what should the judge say if I tell him when appearing for a DUI "Gee Your Honor, no one was hurt. I drove safely"?

As the judge in Trump's case said, this "everyone does it stuff" is not an excuse. If so, the legislature needs to do away with the pertinent laws. A message must be sent. Because Trump's deceptive practices were public knowledge, some message would be sent by any action or inaction.

The same excuse was used when President Clinton's lied in a deposition in a civil case about being alone with Monica Lewinsky. Yes, people lie under oath all the time without being prosecuted. For example, are criminal defendants prosecuted for perjury when they testify under oath "I didn't do it" but are convicted? After all, the jury obviously found that they lied. So why was President Clinton fined and disbarred in Arkansas after the Paula Jones case settled? His lie did not affect the terms of the settlement in any way.

My position at the time, was that the Clinton haters were scraping the barrel to get him. But once President Clinton's lie under oath became public, he should have been subjected to the legal system. Otherwise, the wrong message would be sent.

In Trump's case, saying that the amount of the fine was overkill had a reasonable basis. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. The amount needs to hurt Trump. If the fine were more like $50 million, it would still have sent a message. Remember, judges are sworn to uphold the law.

I know the main gist of your column was about liberal media bias, but it morphed into commentary about Trump's fine. And I know that the above quote was from the WSJ, but it was cited approvingly by you.

New Jersey was going to become the Las Vegas of the East back in the 70's. The local businesses wanted Trump there, the politicians wanted Trump there, the unions wanted Trump there, the banks wanted Trump there, and even the Mob wanted Trump there.

Guess what happened; the Vegas of the East failed.

Fortunately, liberal communist media plays to a mostly low information audience.
