I have to wonder why people with…shall we say…”tarnished” backgrounds and histories (especially RECENT histories of behaviors that are questionable at best and criminal at worst) decide to run for political positions. Do they seriously believe that in this day and age that their ultimately embarrassingly bad behavior won’t be exposed eventually by their political enemies for all to see ( and YES I KNOW both sides do it; So F—ING What!?)

I actually think the opposite has been true, at least in the GOP over the last 8-9 years. Those with exceptionally poor character have reached new political heights, while those with strong character have been purged from party and public office.

If Gaetz hadn't pissed off so many of his Republican colleagues, I think he'd still be Trump's AG nominee. Much of what was reported by the House Ethics committee had been known internally for a long time, and yet it was tolerated because he was a prominent MAGA foot-soldier.

I also think politicians feel competitive pressure to out-outrage each other in this day of collective ADHD. It's about getting attention in what Bernie calls the "United States of Entertainment".
