Charles Krauthammer was such an important voice. I sometimes wonder how much longer he would have lasted at Fox if his health hadn't gone south. I'm quite certain he would have either quit, or been pulled off the air by the network, for not embracing the MAGA right.
I loved Tom Russert. For years, Meet the Press was the best Sunday morning news show because of him. I probably listened to more liberal viewpoints on his show than any other, as I knew he would be fair and allow conservatives the opportunity to speak as well. The show was never the same after he passed away.
Bernie, this is so true! I always tell people Journalism in America died when Tim Russsert died. I used to really enjoy watching Meet The Press. Looking back, it was refreshing to see politicians and world leaders from all persuasions on one show being fairly interviewed and respectfully challenged. Tim is sorely missed, and I’m afraid we will never see the likes of that respected and unbiased journalist again.
Fascinating conversation, Bernie, especially when you realize that, in reality, little has changed except the number of biased reporters has increased. Very few get or got the impact behind the exchange between you and rather. If BIAS undergoes another printing, perhaps this conversation should be included as a bonus chapter.
I used to watch Meet The Press every Sunday when Russert hosted. He never let his guests off the hook, when they didn’t answer his questions .Every now and then , I’ll try to watch it, but the bias is so obvious .
I listen to Bill O’Riley and subscribe to you, Bernie, but am beginning to believe ALL of my fellow listeners would not vote for Kamala. So I may have joined another echo chamber and nothing you or Bill say will change a vote. Have I got it wrong?
I regularly watch Mr. O'Reilly's show. I also am a regular on this website. I do this not only for the information but also to challenge my views. I don't think Bernie, John or Bill have altered my politics, but they give me stuff to think about.
I'm not in an echo chamber of any sort. Thankfully I have the sense and the time to seek information and input elsewhere as well.
I greatly miss two in the world of journalism - Tim Russert and Charles Krauthammer.

Bernie, you and Tim are cut from the same mold. Fair minded, ask the tough questions, and never make it about yourself.
Many thanks, Rob. Much appreciated.

I mean you and Russert.
Spot on! Thank you for this, Bernie.
Great piece Bernie ... look forward to getting the link to the full Emerson conversation

I will vote for Harris/Walz.
Another good one is Ted Koppel
Distracting hair.
You're kidding of course?
You didn't find his hair distracting?
No. And no, your pate doesn't distract me either, that is when you're not wearing a cap.
Good grief! Are you that superficial? On this commentary section, it's frequently hard to distinguish seriousness from attempts at humor.

Apparently.
