Sorry to post this here, but...

New subscriber finding the site interface lacking, i.e. not user friendly. Will work off first run but appreciate assurance I will not be auto-billed for subsequent renewal. Thanks. Owen May

Hi Owen. What problems are you having with the interface? Most folks have been very happy with Substack, but please let us know what you don't like.

I believe you can control the auto-renew feature in your account settings, but your membership is good for almost another 11 months, so there wouldn't be an attempted charge, either way, for a very long time.
