Trump-fearing GOP politicians won't because they're afraid of being primaried and/or losing their celebrity status on the cable-news channels.
So, until some non-political consideration removes Trump from politics, this idiocy will continue on... no matter how many seats he loses.
Remember when candidates stayed in the race until the convention? A lot can happen between now and then.
