Excellent article John. Very insightful. I hadn’t thought about this but I could easily see the conspiracy theorist drug dealers cultivating a narrative like this. Anything harmful whether self inflicted or not by Trump is always turned into some conspiracy against him by his worshippers. So much for a tough guy movement huh? I was thinking the other day, ten plus years ago Alex Jones was still there but the vast majority of the republican electorate didn’t like him, five maybe ten percent of republican voters tops followed him. Now it seems like it’s 75%. We’re in that 25% holdout in the party, although I know neither of us consider ourselves republicans anymore. But yeah, the only vetting the Trump team does is “who loves Trump more?” That’s the standard for choosing a VP I believe
Thanks. I wouldn't venture a guess on the percentages, but the conspiracy-right, that used to be a fringe group within the conservative movement, is now very much the mainstream. And you're right in that the only real criteria for Republican leaders these days is that they flatter and fawn over Trump.
Exactly, he wanted someone who was loyal to him above all else. Of course, loyalty is always a one way street with Trump. Vance will learn that eventually, if he hasn't already figured it out.
With this kind of reception, it is understandable why young conservatives avoid the political process entirely. So. we get stuck with the old Bogus Biden's types whose family all seem to get rich at the public trough, or worse, PC race correct-women who sleep their way up the political ladder like the 'cackler'. So, well done Bernie for trying to scalp a young conservative still able to stick to his principles that don't meet your talking head headline ready standards and that isn't already a millionaire, who can give a s .... what you think is best. BR
A semi-related question: Do Trump and his disciples still believe that the VPOTUS has the constitutional authority to unilaterally reject electoral votes from states which said VP decides are problematic? If no, then why is Mike Pence a traitor? If yes, then they must be totally fine with Kamala Harris unilaterally rejecting electoral votes she finds objectionable in January 2025, right?
As far I can tell, as long as the 50 states have certified their election results, according to the 12th A., the VP's role is ceremonial - he must open the certified results of each state and tally them.
You raise an interesting point. It'd be oh so sweet (in a sense) if VP Harris loses if she's then refuse to certify the winner because of voter/election fraud. If this happened, I'd love to see the Trumpsters shamelessly shed their skin on a dime.
I want to say John, this may be one of your best pieces this whole year. I really mean it, WOW!
Wow, thanks.
He should stay. If Trump gets rid of him, it will only accelerate Trump’s decline. Tell Vance to work hard.
Yeah, I don't think he's going to get rid of him. I just think, if things get bleaker, Vance will become the scapegoat.
Vance could do whar Sir Bernie suggested and voluntarily step down so that Youngkin or Haley could step in

It’s both frustrating and depressing. I’m not sure it’ll ever go back to some type of normalcy
Vance is cooked, but it shouldn't matter, because Don said people are voting for him not Vance.
I'm not sure what qualities the Trump team saw in JD to be VP, because it would appear nobody else is seeing them.
Was it just being the least offensive stiff in a suit that Trump could safely not worry about?
I think he wanted someone he broke, someone who's a slobbering sycophant, and someone who wouldn't upstage him. He did get those things with Vance.

Re:Conspiracy Theories.
I can’t prove it but some incidents are just too convenient, and I honestly do believe there’s a helluva lot more than the public knows regarding:
Jeffrey Epstein’s “Suicide”
Stephen Paddock’s Mandalay Bay Massacre
The Kennedy Assassination and all the other odd deaths afterward including Jack Ruby & Dorothy Kilgallen
The Roswell Incident
And of course, the death of Bobby Fuller.
His Utmost Excellency, The Emperor, Has Spoken.

>>So, well done Bernie
Bernie didn't write this column.
>>trying to scalp
Noticing he's a bad candidate isn't "scalping" him. But as I wrote, I do expect MAGA to scalp him before this over.
>>a young conservative
He's not a conservative. Most of his policy positions line up with Elizabeth Warren's.
>>able to stick to his principles
He hasn't stuck to his principles.
>>that don't meet your talking head headline ready standards
Lol. What?
>>isn't already a millionaire
He is in fact a millionaire... and the guy who fueled his political rise is a billionaire.
>>PC race correct-women
What about her race bothers you?
>>who sleep their way up
Good point. Trump should totally go after her on her sex and family life. Brilliant strategy. No way it can backfire.

They believe Trump should get whatever he wants, regardless of the Constitution and the law. That's really all it comes down to.
