...and Jonathan Swift wanted us to eat our children, too - parboiled of course...
No one seems to understand literary devices like metaphor, simile ...or satire. Or the purpose in asking legitimate questions that might make us think about entering another foreign war. But they DO seem to understand ineffective, disproportionate use of self-serving snark and sarcasm.
I don't watch the Tucker Carlson show. I have seen several interviews he has done on the streaming app, some are very interesting. Tucker has been on cable forever on three networks. CNN, MSNBC, and now FoxNews. His lawyers used the same arguments that Rachel Maddow used, basically everybody knows its not news/facts. I get why you don't trust him but it's the entire ecosystem. It's the National Enquirer on cable, I suppose some people take it seriously, sometimes they say something accurate before anyone else does, but it's the perspective viewers want. If you want to digest news and opinion that is trustworthy these days, you have to pay for it. A whole bunch of people won't but a whole bunch will.
Tucker is mainstream Alex Jones for normies.
Carlson vs. Putin vs. The Titantic. The political fixation and expense on Ukraine now, like rearranging the deck chairs on the American Titanic.
