“Who Needs Amendments?” and “Liberals Are All Scaredy Cats”

In the old John Huston movie, “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre,” when Humphrey Bogart’s Fred C. Dobbs asks to see the badge of the Mexican bandit leader trying to pass himself off as an officer in the Federales, Alfonso Bedoya carved a niche in motion picture history by replying: “Badges? We ain’t got no badges. We don’t need no badges. I don’t have to show you any stinking badges.”

Barack Obama has now carved a niche in American history by usurping the power of Congress with his recent executive edict which serves to make our immigration laws null and void. And he didn’t have to show anyone any stinking amendments to justify it. To be fair, he had already carved a pretty sizable niche by simply ignoring the most inconvenient aspects of the Affordable Care Act.

What is most troubling about his cavalier attitude towards the Constitution is the way that those on his side of the aisle, including Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, the members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the racists at Univision and his usual defenders at Fox, including Alan Colmes and Kirsten Powers, commend him, proving once again that for some on the Left a short term political advantage will always trump the Constitution.

When asked why Obama didn’t do anything about immigration during his first two years in the Oval Office, his hand puppets insist he was too busy working on the Affordable Care Act. But the fact is that with the super majorities he had in the House and Senate, he could have gotten any bill his heart desired written, passed and signed, in 24 hours, let alone 24 months.

I always thought the epitome of selfless loyalty was exemplified by Spicer Lovejoy, Cal Hockley’s henchman in “Titanic.” Even after the mishap with the iceberg, Spicer kept trying to complete his boss’s assignment, which was to make sure Jack Dawson lived only long enough to regret sneaking aboard the doomed ocean liner.

But even Spicer can’t hold a candle to Juan Williams. Even after Obama declared on 25 separate occasions since 2010 that he lacked the constitutional authority to use executive action when it came to illegal aliens, once he did a 180, Williams was first in line to say that of course he not only had the legal authority, but the moral obligation.

It makes you wonder if the Constitution itself were placed on a ballot, if liberals, including Justices Ginsburg, Kagan and Sotomayor, would vote for it. We already know that the First and Second Amendments would never survive the cut.

The most tragic aspect of what will come to be known as the Obama Era is that it divided America in a way that not even the Civil War managed to do. That divided the nation geographically, but Obama has sliced and diced it to such an extent that America is now divided between races, religions, genders and even generations.

The founders fought a revolution, but it wasn’t like those fought in France, Russia and China, which merely exchanged one despot for another. It was a revolution waged on behalf of an idea, the idea being that liberty, the freedom to think one’s own thoughts and pursue one’s own path in life, trumped the government’s power to inflict its will on the individual. One can only imagine how James Madison would shudder at the realization that Americans twice elected a man who made King George appear not only reasonable, but fairly good-natured.

It was King George, remember, who said, upon hearing that George Washington had rejected the American kingship, spurning the royal crown, that if the rumor was true, Washington was the greatest man on the face of the earth. I suspect Emperor Obama would have called Washington a sucker.

What Obama has been attempting to do for the past six years is covered by the German word, gleichschaltung, which means the forced standardization of political, economic and cultural institutions; in short, an authoritarian state. When you rack up all the scandals that have taken place during his reign – everything from Operation Fast & Furious and the targeting of conservatives by the IRS to Benghazi and the amnesty he is now granting to five million illegal aliens — he has all but ruled the Constitution unconstitutional.

Lest anyone get the silly idea that Obama is only wrong when it comes to domestic issues, after two Palestinians butchered five Jews in an Israeli synagogue, three of whom were Americans, he said, “Too many Israelis have died. Too many Palestinians have died.” Well, at least this time he was half right.

What sort of degenerate, though, finds a moral equivalency between Jews being killed in cold blood and Palestinians who die as a result of Israel’s deciding to put an end to missiles targeting its civilians? What sort of cretin calls Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu a pile of chicken poop, but speaks respectfully to and about President Abbas, who referred to the five murders as “a victory” on his political website and personally lauded the two killers as martyrs? What sort of creep ignores the Palestinians celebrating the axe murders by dancing in the streets and tossing candy to the children?

Finally, I must hand out kudos to William B. Stoecker of Sacramento, CA, who called my Wednesday webcast and raised two questions that even I had never considered. First, he wondered why those – often utility companies – who send you bills always supply you with a return envelope with a little window in it. Sometimes, as he mentioned, the little window is just a cut-out and sometimes it’s covered with a tiny piece of clear plastic. But either way, you are occasionally going to stick the return portion of the bill in backwards so that the address doesn’t show through. At which point, you have to take it out and put it back it in correctly. You are already in a foul mood if you’re anything like me and can’t believe how much water and power costs here in California.

As Stoecker says, “Why don’t they just provide you with a regular envelope that has the return address already printed on it?” Why, indeed? My guess, based on my knowledge of utility companies, is that they love to imagine all the frustrated people who stick the return portion of the bill in backwards.

Stoecker’s other comment was in the form of a question: There are about seven billion people on earth, he pointed out. That is a 10 digit number that looks like this: 7,000,000,000. America’s population is roughly 320,000,000, a nine digit number. So why is it, he’d like to know, that he often receives bills that have as many as 15 digits in the serial number?

These are usually the kinds of things that keep me up nights. Until now, I worried that if I fell by the wayside, there would be no one to carry on in my stead. But now I can rest easy, knowing that Stoecker is up there in Sacramento ready and willing to do the work that Americans usually won’t do.

Liberals Are All Scaredy Cats

There is a very good reason why liberals rarely become cops or join the military. It’s because they could get hurt. They will lie and pretend that it’s because they’re so very smart and prefer careers that call for them to use their brains. But I’m Jewish, so I know a great many liberals first hand. In addition, I live in California where you can’t swing a cat without hitting a bunch of them, which explains why I carry a couple of cats every time I leave the house.

I first became aware of this during the Vietnam War when just about every guy I knew at UCLA suddenly became a devout pacifist. Some of them even preferred falsely identifying themselves as homosexuals — getting left-wing psychiatrists to confirm their lie – as an easy way out. Anything was better than having army sergeants shout at them or having the Vietcong shoot at them.

Part of the reason they’re cowards is because they are raised to never hit back even if a schoolyard bully is taking their lunch money or their lunch. They’ve never been spanked for misbehaving. Instead, they’ve been given time outs, which involve being sent to their room to meditate on their questionable behavior. Of course it’s not their fault that their rooms resemble a Toys-R-Us warehouse and that their meditations usually take a backseat to their video games.

When riots break out, liberal politicians won’t even allow the police to bash heads because they’re so terrified of being compared to such racists as George Wallace or Bull Connors. But it’s also because to them, all blacks are alike and, therefore, sacred. They are incapable of seeing the difference between blacks who are trying to attend school or eat at a lunch counter and those turning over cars or burning down businesses. Political correctness makes cowards of them all.

A friend of mine thinks that granting amnesty to millions of illegals will force America’s poor — blacks and Hispanics alike – to realize that the welfare system is about to be overwhelmed. But I think his concerns are groundless. When it comes to doubling the number of people receiving food stamps or forking over billions of dollars to those claiming fraudulent disabilities, all the feds do is alter the plates at the printing presses, changing the denomination on the bills being run off from fives and tens to twenties and fifties. Problem solved.

I think it’s a stretch to call the material that lurks within the skulls of liberals “brains.” It’s more of a mix of mush, straw and horse manure. How else to explain the way Al Gore managed to turn tens of millions into Chicken Littles running around the barnyard clucking, “The earth is heating up!”

Obama, the biggest chicken in the coop, pats himself on the back for getting China to promise to adopt the FEA’s loony limits on industry as their own. Now, really, how stupid does someone have to be to believe that China will do anything that would diminish itself economically or militarily? This is a country that is building warships and submarines at a record pace, and is testing the waters, so to speak, not only in Asia and Africa, but in the Caribbean. We can’t even find out how far along Iran’s nuclear program is or how many chemical weapons Assad is concealing, but Obama is convinced we can hold China to a climate agreement!

It may have escaped Obama’s attention, but China didn’t even cease its cyber-attacks on our government, our military and our industries, while he was prancing around in that silly Mandarin jacket. It’s really not so amazing that he places so much faith in our worst enemies because it has become increasingly clear over the past six years that Obama doesn’t view America’s enemies as his own.

In addition, he has surrounded himself with a great many who share his distaste for America and Americans. The worst of whom is Eric Holder, who would seem more at home smoldering the flames of racial division in Ferguson than he is at the Justice Department.

His likely successor, Loretta Lynch is cut of the same racist cloth and it’s no wonder that she was handpicked by Holder when you learn of her background. While attending Harvard, Ms. Lynch belonged to the Black Law Students Association, which every year she belonged (1981-1984) invited representatives of the Jew-hating, pro-terrorist, Palestinian Liberation Organization to spew anti-Semitic bile on campus.

Lest you think that should be written off as merely youthful folly, more recently Judge Lynch described Voter I.D. as a throwback to the days of Jim Crow.

We are told by those in the know that Ms. Lynch was the most reasonable person on Obama’s short list to replace the vile Eric Holder that conservatives could expect. What does that tell us about the schmuck whose last truthful statement was that he planned to radically transform America?

Finally, I find it all too telling that Joe Biden defended allowing thousands of Central American children to enter the U.S. illegally, claiming it allowed them to “escape the poverty and violence in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.”

That pretty much sums up this administration’s approach to foreign policy: Never allow poverty and violence to fester somewhere else when you can bring it along with all those future Democrats to America.

“Is It Murder Or Suicide?” and “Education, Politics & Racism”

There are times when I suspect that people like Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Boxer and Durbin, should have their photos on the wall of the post office as suspects in the killing of America. Other times, I remember that all of these people, along with the likes of Elijah Cummings, Brad Sherman, Henry Waxman, Sheila Jackson Lee and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, have all been elected numerous times, so perhaps it’s America that’s chosen to commit suicide.

As many of you recall, a doctor named Jack Kevorkian was generally reviled for assisting the terminally ill achieve a painless death. Some people called him a vulture. I was not one of them. It seems to me that if a person chooses to end his pain and suffering by ending his life, he shouldn’t be denied that which we bestow, ironically, on both our beloved pets and the vilest serial killers.

But some of us aren’t yet ready to go, and we certainly aren’t complacent about the homicidal impulses of the so-called Progressives. Everywhere we turn, we see them actively attempting to destroy America. We see them weakening our military, alienating our traditional allies, destroying the economy and erasing our borders. And none of these things are happening accidentally or as the result of unfortunate circumstances.

A friend of mine, Dr. Harry Maller, suggested that because Obama attended Columbia, perhaps he got his agenda from Cloward and Piven, two Columbia professors, rather than from Chicago’s Saul Alinsky. My own guess is that all three of them influenced young Obama.

Those of you who only know the names of Richard Cloward (1926-2001) and his wife, Frances Fox Piven, born in 1932 but still alive, from Glenn Beck might not know that their claim to fame was an article written in 1966, titled “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty,” that appeared in The Nation. At the time they were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work.

Basically, the plan they proposed called for overloading the U.S. welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that they believed would inevitably lead to replacing it with a guaranteed annual income. As they saw it, the bonus is that it would shore up support for the Democratic Party.

In recent years, we’ve seen signs of this strategy all around us. It is no accident, after all, that there are 48 million Americans now receiving free food through SNAP, that millions more are receiving extended unemployment benefits, that Medicaid is ballooning to the bursting point thanks to the Affordable Care Act, and that disability checks are being mailed out every month to a legion of shameless liars and cheats.

To see the strategy at work before your very eyes, you need only look to the southern border, where every day hundreds of illegal aliens, many of them children, are throwing themselves on the mercy of our welfare system. And the reason they keep coming is because this administration keeps inviting them, and because, like every other previous administration, it refuses to build a wall.

But it’s not the politicians alone who are guilty of this outrage to our sovereignty. They are aided and abetted by the Catholic and Evangelical churches. Priests and ministers collude in claiming they are merely following Christ’s teachings when they collect the illegal aliens, feed them, clean them, and then bus them to outlying cities and even other states.

Funny, but I don’t recall reading where Jesus told anyone to over-run America by destroying our schools, undermining our economy and over-taxing our social services. They can put all the lipstick, mascara and rouge, they like on this particular pig, but their main purpose in flouting the law and common sense is to fill their respective pews.

As for the liberal politicians who condone this scandalous behavior, I find it peculiar that at the same time they promote diversity – at least when it comes to pigmentation and sexual proclivities – they’re encouraging one specific group, Hispanics, to invade this nation.

For this reason, and so many more, I would like to see Barack Obama impeached. But not now, when it would only serve to draw attention away from all the scandals bedeviling the Democrats. But once the midterm elections are over and the Republicans have taken control of the Senate, I want to see Obama tried for high crimes and misdemeanors. It’s bad enough that this bum has managed to conceal all of his essential documents. But it would be criminal if he didn’t face prosecution for turning the IRS, the FBI and even the U.S. Patent Office, into his own personal attack dogs, and for violating both the letter and the spirit of the U.S. Constitution.

Finally, a friend suggested that I poll my readers. It makes sense. After all, we are always being asked to pay attention to polls conducted by the likes of Fox News, the NY Times, Gallup, Frank Luntz, Zogby and Pew. So while I understand that my readers don’t actually represent a cross-section of the American public because they tend to be both conservative and literate, I would be very interested in hearing from you.

The poll consists of four and a half questions: (1) Which of the TV commentators do you trust the most? (2) What do you consider to be the biggest problem facing America today? (Please limit it to a single issue, and not just say the creep in the Oval Office. That’s a given.) (3) Do you agree that Obama should face impeachment in 2015? (4) Who would you most like to see the Republicans nominate in 2016? (4a) Who would you least like to see at the top of the GOP ticket?

Please reply to me at BurtPrelutsky@aol.com.

At least now you’ll have to quit bad-mouthing polls simply because no pollster has ever asked for your opinion.

“Education, Politics & Racism”

I never want people to assume that just because I have questions about colleges and universities, I oppose education. It’s just that the current system makes no sense. For one thing, the cost of a college education has increased by 1,200% over the past three decades. That is twice the rate at which the cost of health care has soared. But at least until Obama tossed the monkey wrench known as the Affordable Care Act into the works, health care just kept getting better. Is there anyone who would suggest that’s been true about education, which has come to be better known as indoctrination?

That is why I keep suggesting that universities be turned into parks, and that higher education be turned over to trade schools, where not only carpentry, plumbing and auto mechanics are taught, but medicine, law and architecture.

The lie that’s usually brought forth by the status quo crowd is that students need all those pricey undergrad classes in order to be well-rounded. But the fact is that it’s only the bank accounts of professors, administrators and football coaches, that have become fatter and the endowments that are bloated to the breaking point.

Republicans have become somewhat accustomed to being called racists whenever they object to affirmative action, increased welfare or to any of Obama’s unconstitutional edicts. At the same time, they are labeled racists if they merely call for photo I.D.s at polling places.

The obvious fact is that it’s liberals who are the true bigots. They’re the ones who keep insisting that even 50 years after the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment that blacks can’t be expected to compete in schools or in the workplace. It is also liberals who lump the members of all minorities together, whereas conservatives have no trouble at all making the distinction between the bottom feeders who keep electing the likes of Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel and Sheila Jackson Lee and people like Dr. Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell, Condoleezza Rice and Clarence Thomas.

For most Americans, the tragedy of slavery is two-fold. One, the enslavement of blacks left an indelible stain on the nation. Two, the endless guilt has left tens of millions of black Americans with a sense of victimhood and entitlement that has resulted in the economic enslavement of hundreds of millions of white people.

As I see it, the only good that can possibly come from the swapping of five Islamic terrorists for one Army deserter is that even some Democrats are getting fed up with Obama’s arrogance and lack of patriotism and commonsense. It can only make it easier for Republicans in 2014 to take back the Senate and send Harry (“I’m glad we got rid of those terrorists”) Reid out to pasture.

The reason that’s so important is that it may be the only way to prevent Barack Obama from replacing one of the elderly justices on the Supreme Court with another Sonia Sotomayor or Elena Kagan, thus reversing the 5-4 majority that conservatives currently have.

Too many Republicans seem to lose sight of the fact that the Supreme Court is the legacy that presidents leave behind so that they can continue screwing the country decades after they’ve left the White House. That is why I find it so vexing when Republicans stay home during presidential elections for no better reason than that their personal favorite didn’t garner the nomination. I mean, how stupid and irresponsible did someone have to be in 2012 to allow Obama to win a second term simply because Rick Santorum, Rand Paul or Newt Gingrich, wasn’t on the ticket?

At this time, my biggest problem with the Court is that Americans who merely wish to protect the letter and the spirit of the Constitution lack the standing to bring a case before the Supremes. Unless an individual can prove that he personally – and not just the nation at large – has been harmed by a law or by a president who sees no reason to abide by the specific limitations on his authority, he’s powerless to state his case, even if he or she is a member of Congress.

The midterm elections, though, are only a prelude to the all-important presidential election two years down the road. Possibly I’m being too optimistic, but it seems to me that if the Democrats can’t come up with a better candidate than Hillary (“What difference does it make?”) Clinton to succeed Barack (“America leaves no deserters behind, no matter the price”) Obama, it’s time for the Party to file bankruptcy.

Channeling Will Rogers

Because it’s been about 80 years since Will Rogers died in a plane crash, there are a lot of people who never heard of him even though he had been a major attraction in vaudeville, a movie star and a homespun columnist given to such observations as “The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets.”

But, to be fair, as wise as he was, Mr. Rogers never heard of ObamaCare. It’s also worth noting that when he uttered his most famous line, “I never met a man I didn’t like,” he had never met Barack Obama.

When he was a senator and the Republicans were in the majority, Obama, along with his liberal colleagues, Biden, Reid and Feinstein, insisted that if the GOP employed the nuclear option, meaning they would be able to make judicial appointments with just a simple majority of 51votes rather than a super majority of 60, it would be the act of tyrants and would knock the earth off its axis.

It seems that while the rest of us were worried about Iran obtaining and using a nuclear bomb, we made the mistake of taking our eyes off Harry Reid. I used to refer to the majority leader of the Senate as “the Mortician” because of the phony funereal tones he invariably adopts in his public pronouncements. Now it has become an even more appropriate nickname because of the way he’s gone about burying the rights of the minority members in the U.S. Senate.

Back in 2005, Sen. Obama said, putting words in George Bush’s mouth, “I’m going to interpret it this way or that way, however I like.” He went on: “This is part of the theory of George Bush, that he can make laws as he goes along. I disagree with that. I taught the Constitution for 10 years. I believe in the Constitution. I will obey the Constitution.”

The only thing I ever heard Obama say about the Constitution was that, like the Civil Rights movement, it fell short because it didn’t deal with the redistribution of wealth. But, then, Obama has changed his mind about a lot of things since moving into the White House. He decided, for instance, that the Patriot Act isn’t nearly as fascistic as he insisted it was when Bush was sitting in the Oval Office; that ObamaCare was so flexible that, on his mere say-so, businesses and unions were exempt from paying the same taxes as the rest of us; and that it’s not even slightly unpatriotic to raise the national debt from nine trillion dollars to 17 trillion dollars in five years, although he sure thought it was traitorous when the Republicans raised it from six trillion to nine trillion in eight years.

Recently, Obama hosted a sit-down with several of his fans in the media, so they could best decide how to put lipstick on the pig known as the Affordable Care Act. Just a few of the boobs he invited were Ed Schultz, Al Sharpton and Juan Williams. That’s some brain trust. Those guys don’t have a single working brain between them. I can only assume that Larry, Moe and Curly couldn’t make it to the meeting because they were busy elsewhere, poking each other in the eye.

But that’s what happens when you’re a narcissistic egotist who insists on being the smartest guy in the room. At some point, the other guys have to be so dumb they drool when they speak, and the room has to shrink all the way down to a closet.

Until everyone finally caught on to the fact that he lied and lied in order to shove ObamaCare down our throats, it was enough for his flunkies in the media to carry his water. But now that even the New York Times is beginning to catch on, it’s become a matter of bailing water to keep this administration afloat. But Obama is as water-logged as the Titanic, and not even Juan Williams has a bucket that large.

It’s worth noting that for over three years, while the Democrats danced around the Maypole, singing the praises of socialized medicine, it was known as “ObamaCare.” But, during the past few months, as we began discovering just how toxic it was, even Obama began calling his signature piece of legislation — the thing that Joe (“Potty Mouth”) Biden once bragged was “a f—ing big deal” — the “Affordable Care Act.”

But at the rate this thing is going south, don’t be too surprised if you wake up one day and find the New York Times and the sock puppets at MSNBC referring to it as BushCare.
