Is Everything Political in the Obama Administration?

ClimateWith the ISIS military advancing on Baghdad, the Pentagon has issued a report outlining what Secretary of State John Kerry has called “the biggest challenge of all that we face right now.” Worldwide terrorism? No, silly. But if you said global warming, give yourself a green star.

As an editorial in the Wall Street Journal puts it: “The Pentagon Goes to Climate War.”  And the subhead:  “Hagel wants to retool the military to stop glaciers from melting.”  Ouch!

No one is saying that the United States military can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, that it can’t be worried about both Islamic terrorists and melting glaciers. But why is climate change a concern of our armed forces at all? Why is global warming a national security matter requiring a military solution?  You should know these things but since you obviously don’t, I’ll tell you – or more accurately, the just-released Pentagon report will tell you. It says that climate change “has the potential to exacerbate many of the challenges we are dealing with today – from infectious disease to terrorism.”

Yes, if the planet gets too hot that might mean more terrorism. How?  I have no idea.  But if Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is so worried about climate change, then so should every other patriotic American, right?

Okay, let’s get serious. Certain American institutions should be above politics.  That’s how things work in a democracy like ours.  But on President Obama’s watch many of our institutions are not above politics; they’re waist deep into politics.  And, sadly, that includes the United States military.   More on this shortly. First, let’s see what other institutions of our government have been turned into political tools since Barack Obama became president.

Well, there’s the IRS, which went after political opponents of the president while he was running for re-election.

There’s the FBI, which said the American convert to Islam, who spouted Arab words while cutting the head off a woman he used to work with in Oklahoma; a man who reportedly tried to convert fellow workers to Islam and featured anti-American rants on his Facebook page … was engaged in “workplace violence.” Barney Fife knows the difference between fanatical Islamic terrorism and run-of-the-mill workplace violence. But the FBI comes under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice, which is run by Mr. Obama’s pal Eric Holder.  So it’s no surprise that the FBI has been politicized too — which conveniently means there was no act of domestic terror in Oklahoma during Mr. Obama’s presidency.

How about our nation’s space agency? Barack Obama told the NASA administrator that one of his highest priorities should be … sending humans back to the moon? … building a colony on Mars? Nah. A top priority of the NASA chief, the president said, should be “to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.”  Another opportunity for the president to show we’re not at war with Muslims.

And, of course, there’s the CDC, which is currently battling Ebola but won’t even consider temporarily halting flights to the U.S. from West Africa. Dr. Thomas Frieden, who runs the CDC, says if we ban flights we couldn’t get aid workers out and back home to the United States.

How about this, Dr. Frieden: Put the aid workers on a U.S. military plane … or some other private plane … fly them home, and keep them in quarantine until we know that they’re not infected.  Or am I missing something?

I’m guessing Dr. Frieden is simply saying what political operatives in the White House want him to say — so that it looks like the president has everything under control. I’m also guessing the president doesn’t want to stigmatize Africans with Ebola, and telling them they’re not welcome here, might do just that. In other words, politics trumps common sense. At least until another West African carrying the Ebola virus makes it through the CDC’s latest “safety” measures, which involve no-touch temperature checks of everyone coming in from that part of the world, and a questionnaire asking if they’ve been around people with Ebola.

Really? Thomas Eric Duncan would have breezed through those CDC supposed “safeguards” – and he died of Ebola in Dallas. Does Dr. Frieden actually think the honor system works when someone with Ebola is trying to enter this country to get medical help?

Back to the military …

Remember Fort Hood, where U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan shot and killed 13 Americans while yelling the Islamic war cry. If ever there was a clear-cut case of Islamic terrorism in the homeland, this was it. Yet the military called it “workplace violence” just as the FBI, five years later, would call the beheading of a 54 year-old grandmother “workplace violence.”

It gets worse. The Army’s top general at the time of the massacre, Geroge Casey was worried about how the killings would affect … diversity. Here’s what he said: “Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.”  Right on, general.  Let’s make sure everyone knows how much the commander-in-chief cares about diversity.

I’m not suggesting that President Obama sent memos out to his generals and cabinet secretaries and everyone else telling them what to say and what do to. But everything they’ve done – from labeling global warming a bigger threat than terrorism, to calling a beheading and a massacre at an army base “workplace violence,” to targeting the president’s opponents during a re-election campaign … was all done on Mr. Obama’s behalf. It was all done to help him in one way or another.

It’s one thing if the members of the House or the Senate act in a political way. But, as I mentioned earlier, certain institutions are supposed to be above politics. When they’re not, they erode trust in government. And that’s never a good thing in a democracy.

Yet the FBI and the IRS and NASA and the CDC and especially the U.S. military have all been tainted by politics on President Obama’s watch.

And I suspect that’s just how he wants it.

A puppet can do only what his puppet-masters tell him to do, only what Valerie allows him to do by the strings she pulls. It has been this way for Obama from long habit, at least since college, maybe even longer.

  • Drew Page

This president doesn’t visit the bathroom without considering the political implications.

After reading most of the comments here, I have to ask: why is it that those who apparently claim allegiance to the “progressive” or liberal philosophies say the most silly, ignorant, outrageous, even racist, things? Not one of them added anything positive to the conversation — just negative, nasty pokes in the eyes of those with whom they disagree. Thanks to the rest of you… the conservative minds who actually think about problems and have ideas for their solutions. And for the intelligent interaction between those individuals.

In the final days leading to the resignation of Richard Nixon, the beleagured Nixon threw out a bone to the press and congress that he would favor a one term amendment to the constitution confining each POTUS to ONLY one term that would last six (6) years. The implication was, perhaps this would be sufficient reason to overlook Nixon’s fatal flaw of Obstruction of Justice and permit him to continue in office until his elected term ended. It did not work. In another documented case, before George W. Bush was nominated, an elite team of men were dispatched to Texas to educate the son of the former President on world affairs, the economy and other relevant topics so he would not be behind the curve when speaking in public. The elite team was reported to include Henry Kissinger which has never been confirmed. The point here is, before running for office as the most powerful man on the planet, some sort of resume of the applicant should be examined by a group of individuals who represent the executive branch of our government. The one term stipulation would automatically eliminate fund raising while in office. If the world situation erupts as it did during FDR’s era, the same amendment could cover that possibility with a recent precedent. After 200 plus years, I believe the US has earned this change of governing rules.

    • Iggy Autry

South Korea has a 1-term, 5-year presidency. I’m not sure it would do much in the US. I think it could end up swinging different ways – and we really wouldn’t know until it happened. For example, it might weaken or strengthen the executive office. On the one hand, a president might feel much more free to fight for policies he and his party believe in without an eye on opinion polls in the hopes of assuring another term and thus a “legacy”. On the other hand, without the prospect of being elected again, a new president might become a lame duck far sooner than he does now, giving much more power to a Congress where too many members hold the jobs for virtually life…

The cost of elections is another can of worms I can’t see solutions to.

    • tompain

Interesting thought from the money standpoint, however, I think it best we maintain the 4 year term to limit the damage one could do to the office. End of term is really the only practical way to get rid of one.

  • Iggy Autry

What is with Google’s news? What is the TV news like with Ebola?

I saw much when home for vacation recently. Now that I’m back overseas, in a gateway city, a stone’s throw from Africa, i scanned the World news page at Google, and judging by the non-coverage, you would have thought Ebola had been cured long ago – much less contained. After 3 days of almost no headlines in the world section, I switched to US and saw only 1 Ebola article and it was about an apology from the Dallas hospital.

    What gives?

Is the news really that sparse? Is it a Google thing?

One man is shot in Ferguson and its 24/7 for weeks.

I used to believe the media would jump,on any story that brought in viewers. Ebola should do that. Why can’t I find that much right now on Google?

    • Iggy Autry

Yesterday, I even used a VPN to see if coverage of it was being filtered out. Same results..

    The thing that has me worried about this Gov’t is the unknown number of Demies as;
‘ Public Servants ‘ in our U.S. Government.
You can’t call them ‘ Civil Servants ‘ not after 2013 and all the ‘ FiFth’s ‘ taken.
    That’s far from being ‘ Civil ‘
    – F&F, IRS, NSA, AP, the Census Bureau, the Benghazi Lies, the Southern Border flood, and now a new crisis, called Ebola, CDC ?

There’s enough here for a century of Presidents.

  • Ed I

The real “joke” about global warming (remember they are back using that phrase) is that even if real there is absolutely NOTHING the USA can do about it. China already exceeds the USA in the production of carbon dioxide; India is not far behind. As for the spread of terrorism and disease from global warming, sorry, all the examples they have used so far just don’t wash. When we had a government that truly cared about the American people we all but eliminated dengue, malaria, Yellow Fever, and a myriad of other diseases. It will not be global warming that causes the recurrence of these diseases back in the USA but political correctness and stupidity of our government.

    • Iggy Autry

We can nuke India and China?

  • CmonMann

short answer – yes, everything is political – including the latest executive order to send National Guard troops to Africa – he’s begging the republicans to object so he can claim they are killing people – all to impact the mid-terms.

    • Blakely1

In 1918, Spanish Flu, that killed thousands of young Americans
was spread in the US by the soldiers coming home from World War I.
And what does Obama do? He sends 3000 soldiers into the most
infected area on the planet to “help”. We can help them by sending
them what they need not our men & women.
Are they so clueless that they don’t even look at history or do they
know & think that charity trumps the safety of our citizens?

      • Ted Crawford

He is taking these, seemingly counter intuitive, actions BECAUSE he clearly understands History!
He believes if he engineers this just right he can create a justification for Martial Law, while vilifying Republicans and blaming them all in one move!

        • Blakely1

If so, it is a miscalculation. I haven’t heard anyone who thinks that sending our beleaguered soldiers into that
          hell is a good idea.

Once you are in the country, it isn’t up to a state governor to demand proof of where you came from. When the police try that with traffic offenders, the Attorney General says it’s unconstitutional.

It is not up to a a state governor to require that hospitals demand to know where you came from before letting you into their E.R. If state governors did do that, we wouldn’t have near the number of illegal aliens in this country that we have.

  • SkyCitizen

Perhaps, one time in his life, Eric Holder may have been right about “a nation of cowards”. I haven’t seen any Generals resign from the Pentagon or for that matter any other high government positions, they simply retire after giving Congress the raspberries when it gets too hot for them.

The Obama Administration won’t even defend this country from a virus let alone terrorism. Many of these deviations from common sense are underpinned by the specter of racism. Here’s a news flash America, we are a post racial country. All racism, like the common cold, is never going away. The vestige of racism will never take the toll on America that cowardice is currently achieving. We easily excoriate the German people of the 30’s and 40’s for the rise of National Socialism and their cowardice in going along with it but blindly allow racial politics to become our new nationalism. I believe Americans are not cowards. We still have a democracy and no excuse not to stand up and use it; if only to tell Eric Holder he is wrong.

Yes. Everything is cast as having a political motivation which is of the highest priority.

Why don’t they just go to SEARS and buy enough Window A/C’s to cool the glaciers down? That would also stimulate the economy. The military could install them.

Oh wait, I think that would mean more fossil fuels be used to create the electricity needed for the A/C’s. Shucks, back to square one again.

We used to talk about “mission creep,” but this is more like mission sprint. To put people who have been trained to kill people and break things in charge of trying to prevent ice melting will surely deliver some interesting results, none of which are likely to be good.
My personal read is that the science is not that good on the man-made aspect of global climate change. Since I’m not convinced that man caused it, I surely can’t figure out how man could prevent it from happening.
This sounds like a way to dilute military effectiveness by fragmenting their operations. If it were intentional, it would be treasonous.

It is intentional, and it is treasonous. So what are you going to do about it? Will you personally take everyone you can to the polls to oust this disease. Will you make a difference on the 4th of November?

Hey Bernie, first of all this country was supposed to be a republic, if we were smart and vigilant enough to keep it. That horse is out of the barn however… Resident Islamobola uses politics as a weapon and incompetence as a cover… They know what they do… Transformation by any means is the agenda, and initiating a pandemic is not out of the question… As for the military brass… They’re political servants to the Kenyonesian regime and we may not get the republic back… The clock is ticking and the cavalry isn’t coming… It’s way to late to vote this nation back to a republic… Time has run out for that option… So if Bagdad falls to the Islamic State, who is Islamobla going to blame it on? That’s what I want to know…

    • ampdx

Divide and conquer. That’s what obama has tried to do in each and every segment of the American society. If we keep that in mind, we will survive……Remember also that his pions or his supporters will ALWAYS, attack a previous president or anything…..because they have NOTHING to defend him.

      • Steve Fair

This makes no sense at all since Obama’s supporters are diverse and representative and the right is primarily white, male and conservative.

        • Lc Goodfellow

The National Black Republican Association (NBRA)

We, black American citizens, in order to free ourselves and our fellow citizens from governmental tyranny, do herewith submit these Articles of Impeachment to Congress for the removal of President Barack H. Obama, aka, Barry Soetoro, from office for his attack on liberty and commission of egregious acts of despotism that constitute high crimes and misdemeanors.

Steve, quick before it’s too late, get on board !

          • Steve Fair

You minstrels couldn’t fill a phone booth. Why can’t you get a black Republican elected to anything? Answer: You have no support among blacks and white conservatives laugh at you as soon as you leave the room.

          • Steve Fair

That would be a majority of the electorate, no? Obama won TWO national elections.

It was truly astonishing just how many voted Democrat for the first time in 2012. Made even more so by the fact that they had never done so while still living!

          • Stimpy

Unfortunately yes. Poor, dumb illiterates looking for hand-outs do outnumber smart, hardworking, self-reliant people. Doesn’t say much for Obama and the prospects for this country.

Louisiana officials had to request aid before the federal government could act. It’s the law. The Democrats were in charge. They failed to act.

          • Steve Fair

Nagin and Blanco were screaming for help days before Katrina hit. What are you talking about?

          • Getchur Fax Straight

Revisionist history. And, that’s why Nagin let all those busses stay where they’d be flooded and unusable for any evacuation.

          • Steve Fair

The buses were under the jurisdiction of Orleans Parish not the city of New Orleans. You need to get your info someplace other than Fox and Bernie.

Of course they were, why do something of consequence when you can scream for help instead.

        • Josh

Probably also Bush’s fault that local and state governments were so incredibly unprepared and inept, and that people living in a dangerous area just sit on their hands until bad sht happens. If only it would have held off for a couple more years, Obama could have magically made the water recede by twitching his nose around.

My apologizes for likening Obama to Bewitched. I realize now that was racist. I would never do that to a white man. My racist ways are just too ingrained. Damn my whiteness!

          • Steve Fair

If it were totally up to the local governments then what was the need for the FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY? That’s like sending the NYPD to kill Bin Laden after 9/11.

          • Josh

“Totally” up to? Nah. Last resort. But those idiots were wholly unprepared for the hurricane itself, much less the aftermath of the levee breakdown. A total failure, utter incompetence by local and state governments, and a lot of buffoonery by a lot of people who willingly turned themselves into victims by not leaving. Some couldn’t; understandable. Others just decided to stick around, and then staggered around, waving for help, looking like one of those for-the-price-of-a-cup-of-coffee-per-day commercials. And if Bin Laden were in NYC, then maybe. Other than that, you’re talking out your brown eye.

          • Steve Fair

Josh baby, the role of FEMA is to provide disaster relied with the full force of the federal government that local governments can’t muster. Bush appointed an Arabian Horse Race Commisioner to head this vital agency who totally fucked up in the time of an unprecedented crisis. That’s the fact. And as far as your demeaning of poor people with no means to relocate, well, that’s just more indication of your worthlessness.

          • Josh

Understandable in Pompeii. What the hell’s a volcano eruption? But in a hurricane-ravaged area in this era of modern science, people being unprepared is just ridiculous. You mean to tell me all of those people had no means to relocate? Not buying it. For some, sure; some people were undoubtedly stuck there. Others, however, chose to fight through it.

And it’s important to note that personal responsibility and local governments completely failed that area. For as much of a screw-up as Bush was or mighta been, making something the federal government’s responsibility is painfully ignorant. What is the purpose of those local politicians sucking up taxpayers’ money, if they can’t even streamline a process of evacuation or institute safeguards against disasters? What are they getting paid for? Why are they elected?

I do understand that liberals look for the federal government to literally be the mother of all citizens. Mommy, he’s bullying me. Make him stop! Mommy, it’s unfair. Fix it! Mommy, the big, bad wolf blew my damn house down. Get me another’n! Mommy, the white man be holding me down, yo. N1ggas be trippin’ and b1tches be crazy, son. Word to tha muthafucka. Piss on school; I quit. Piss on minimum wage. I deserve to instantly be given a living wage for no other fact than I walk the earth. Give meh healthcare. I can haz benefits? Hook it up, Prezbo!

Some of us look for the federal government to get the hell out of the way and for local governments to be far more competent. Katrina in particular ended up needing federal assistance. It shouldn’t have.

When those West Virginians get flooded out, their entire communities utterly destroyed, with not a single home left undamaged, you don’t hear a bunch of whining all over the place about how government failed to help them. There were no big pleas; no famous rappers talking about how much the Prez hates white people. As poor as anybody in the nation, these m’fers are self-reliant and don’t stand around looking like lost puppies. And one can go down a list of places ravaged by national disasters and see a stark difference in community responses.

But, yeah — I ain’t got no means to be leavin’. Somebody else gotta help me. Reminds me of that Tommy Sotomayor video of the woman–a hair-hatted hooligan, no doubt–with her damn 8 kids, talking about how somebody owes her; somebody has to help her. How can she be expected to do for herself when she’s got so much to do? It’s Bush’s fault; it’s government’s responsibility. She ain’t got no means to be doin’ for herself, brotha. Others must do for her.

    >>I’m not suggesting that President Obama sent memos out to his generals and cabinet secretaries and everyone else telling them what to say and what to do.<<
Bernie: Obama's a community organizer puppet–a puppet, just like the rest of them. (Get him off the teleprompter… well, you know.) It's the Progressive Machine that's setting the agenda. It's more than just Obama. You can tell that, because he's not a leader. There's something much more sinister here and it's much more dangerous than a man called Obama.

    • Steve Fair

One second Obama is a traitorous dictator destroying America, the next he’s a vacuous puppet being led around by the “Progressive Machine”. How Orwellian.

      • dandlac

Oh that was good, so insightful, so thoughtful… ooops… you failed to change my mind Steve, darn.

  • JASVN67

Of course it is, and there in lays the extreme danger to America! The left has perfected the art of misdirection via the Political Correctness process and made a science of it. Mr. Bernard’s article has encapsulated it all quite well here. America has very little time left to reverse the slide into socialism.

  • One Man’s Opinion

Obama’s Defense Secretaries: Gates, who slashed funding for “conventional” warfare; Panetta, who “went along to get along,” then revealed his opposition in a book after he left office; Hagel, who has always appeared disoriented and confused, is in the middle of his “go along to get along” phase, reading the Administration’s scripts. Obama’s people probably keep him drugged, which explains his bizarre behavior.

  • Drew Page

Bernie, I take it the headline of your article is a rhetorical question.

There is, it seems, an overwhelming concern at the U.N. about global warming and what the United States needs to do about it. In the last analysis, it all boils down to America coming up with a lot of money to give to the U.N. to combat this threat to the planet. As the last U.N. conference addressing the threat of global warming, both INdia and China were conspicuous by their absence. I only mention this because they are the greatest air polluters in the world today.

    • dandlac

Ah that would be redistribution of wealth for percieved (if not even remotelty true) imperialist colonial behavior.. But everyone should see that is simply their crisis created to enable and justify the redistribution.

    • Conspiratorial Theororist

Does it beg the question as to when Obama will capitulate to the U.N. and simply have them take over the United States?

    • Stimpy

IBD ran a chart of CO2 emissions from the US, the UK, and China.
US and UK emissions are not increasing. China’s emissions are ramping to the moon. It matters little what is done in the US when China is literally blackening the sky with pollution and CO2. The liberals of course don’t want anyone to know this.

      • dandlac

Shhh, dont say that, the liberals dont want anyone to know who the real polluters are when they are just trying to use this “crisis” to redistribute your wealth.

Bernie, maybe you’ve never seen “The Thing”…or the
remake of “The Thing”…but Ihave, and so has Hagel.
Melting ice produces much more than water…it
gives rise to monsters that can inhabit human shells and
intermingle with us like mindless automatons, bent only on the replacement of
humankind with monsterkind. Wiping out those things that make us great, and replacing it with an Overmind dictating to all how to act for the
greater good. Can you imagine? Thank God
we have Obama and crew at the helm to prevent this
    nightmare.
We must follow. We must follow. We must follow (baaa)…

Such a foolish nation is America
The Legacy of Barrack Hussein Obama is wide and far reaching. For America
he has given Ebola to the people! Many claims are made that you cant catch it
unless you bath in secretions of the ill! They have no clue. Obama has shipped
the infected from one place to another with hope his job is done! Barrack
Hussein Obama has put Americans at each others throats. American cities have been stoked with hate ready to burn once again with hopes his work is done! He has freed the terrorists to do their bidding still is work is not done! The
mockery of the American religions are in full swing, so fine to chop the heads
of the infidels but as America bleeds and crys and wails to the Lord God
Almighty I say to you all Praise the good as well as the evil for it is sent by
God to a world that is lost.

  • Charlie

I Hope all this commenting will lead to something positive.
As far as the Ebola outbreak is concerned for me…
I’ve heard nothing about what the European Countries are doing to:
1.) stop the influx of humans into their respective countries.
2.) send medical personnel to assist our efforts.
    ANY COMMENTS Bernard?

    Diversity is actually killing us.

    • dandlac

Actually diversity without full assimiliation is what is killing us. But this is exactly what the Liberals want, diversity without assimilation. It is much easier to confuse, obfuscate, steal, etc, when people cant even understand each other or accept the same social and legal requirements.

      • Drew Page

I believe you are correct. America is no longer a “melting pot” but rather a “balkanized smorgasbord” with immigrants having no understanding of what it means to be American.

We allow, even promote and subsidize illegal immigration. These illegals do not understand our Constitution, or what it was designed to do. They never had to fight for the rights our Constitution guarantees Americans. They are happy to be here and on the dole of our social welfare programs and will believe anything they are told by those who made it easy for them to be here. They are even happier when their political sponsors tell them they have rights as illegal aliens and are “entitled” to all these social welfare benefits that legal citizen taxpayers have paid for.

This is not the America of the late 1800s and early 1900s, when the U.S. needed immigrants to farm the land, clear the forests, build the roads and railways and defend the country. Further, back then, there were no Social Security benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment compensation, free medical care, food stamps, rent subsidies, welfare checks. If you didn’t work, you didn’t eat. No one went out of their way to print things in an immigrants language. Immigrants learned to speak English or they had to find a fellow countryman who could. Immigrants coming to America back then were given one thing only, opportunity. and it was enough.

Today, most illegals are poor, have little education a few job skills. They are a burden on our schools, our medical care facilities, our social welfare programs and our prisons. How in the name of sanity does this kind of “diversity” help America and it’s legal citizens?

        • Steve Fair

This is nonsense. The same things that are being said about the new immigrants coming across the Southern borders were said about the immigrants from Eastern and Southern Europe 100 years ago. The perversity is that many of the children of those European immigrants are perpetuating the same bigotry. Total hypocrisy.

Obama has absolutely nothing except scandals and ineptitude to make the media talk about something positive before the elections in Nov., so they have to create something to “distract” the voters and give the talk shows something to talk about. Hopefully the Republicans will not do anything stupid between now and election day, otherwise, that’s all we are going to hear about. Sadly for our country Obama is the worst president in US history and an empty shell as a man. He is as shallow and arrogant as most men of his statue are. That makes it a good thing for the country as Harry Reid and his corrupt machine will not be leading the Senate. I hope we all learned a hard lesson and this next election will be the start of restoring the country from the corrupt liberal machine.

Obola. An infectious disease destroying the country which we must eradicate.

      • brad allen

Maybe too late to eradicate this disease…perhaps we can send him to Texas to help.

        • dandlac

We will find out if the country has the spine to eradicate on 4 Nov. And if we can overcome the voter fraud which is about to be unleashed on us.

          • David Nelson

As they say on the Left: Vote early and often. A little voter fraud would only be fair after all the hanging chads in 2001.

          • dandlac

If people are interested in fighting back against Voter Fraud, they should quickly contact True The Vote at http://www.truethevote.org/. • joepotato

      Ebolabama = the Kenyonesian usurper

  • dandlac

Your premise question is obviously rhetorical – from day one everything this administration does is political – every “calculus” Obola makes is whether or not it supports his political agenda, not for the good of the country, in fact the good of the country is last on his list of priorities. But here is the bottom line, this administration is now desperate to maintain some semblance of legitimacy
and more importantly to do everything in its power to fire up its base of lunatics and koolaid drinkers. Hence the utterly ridiculous, nonsensical idea to use the military to combat the ghost of “global warming”.

  • Mr. Common Sense

I hope we survive the next 2 years. This is just painful. And the liberal Hacks, I mean Press, just keeps on taking it in stride.

    • Iggy Autry

I have a feeling Obama is so much different than Bill Clinton – so much more a true believer – so less concerned about being popular and his legacy, I have a feeling the next 2 years might see him going even more extreme and showing contempt for everyone who doesn’t applaud him for sticking to his ideological foundation…

If Republicans gain control of both houses on Congress, it might become even more egregious if he tries to ignore Congress even more…

      • Mr. Common Sense

I think what you said is true. However, if the Republicans have control over both the House and the Senate, they are much more likely to fight back. That will make for great talk show discussion, but won’t do much to help the country.

        • Iggy Autry

I’m not sure how far executive orders can go. I’ve heard Charles Krautenhamer (sp?) say that they actually mean little if Congress wants to apply its control of the purse strings – yet another check-n-balance that makes the Obama-types dream of rewriting the whole system….

          • Drew Page

You may remember the public scourging that the Republicans took when they tried to negotiate a limit on the debt ceiling and when they tried to defund Obama Care, agreeing to every single element of the proposed budget except for Obama Care funding. The GOP was flayed alive for “shutting down the government”. Not only did the Democrats and the MSM rip the GOP, many Republicans criticized them as well.

“The Republicans want the government, for the first ime in its history, to default on its debt.” “Social Security checks and Medicare payments can’t be guaranteed.” “This could prevent the military from being paid.” “Food and Drugs won’t be inspected.” These were the dire straits that the GOP had thrown America into, according to Dems and the MSM . In reality, none of these happened. The only things shut down were the national parks and the open air WW II memorial that aged veterans tried to visit.

Democrats of course got none of the blame. Obama said he was willing to work with Republicans and asked for compromise. How do you compromise with someone who refuses to talk about compromise?

          • Mark W.

Sadly, Lies, if told often enough and loudly enough, trump the truth.

      • Steve Fair

Ignore Congress???? The cowards hauled ass out of Washington so they wouldn’t have to go on record on “boots on the ground”. Meanwhile they can attack Obama for inaction. Total frauds.

Bernie, when the only reporting we get about all out spiritual warfare is that its political, we remain blind and stupid. To BHO, it’s all about jihad. Just ask your local bomb-vested jihadi who thinks he’s going to heaven for killing you while blowing himself up.
Recent Popes have called it a culture of death – aided and abetted by the “progressives” among us and the MSM. How many infidel heads have to roll before we wake up?

    • not_fooled

    • dandlac

Obola may or may not come out of the closet concerning his support of Islam against Christianity – Mulsims are taught to decieve. It really is irrelevant, people should have seen his true beliefs when they took a look at his 20 year relationship with “Reverend” Jeremiah. And his relationship with Bill Ayers. It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that Obola hates America. And it is up to us, We The People to deal with this disease.

  • JMax

The Pentagon was issuing reports on global warning as a threat to security long before President Obama ever set foot in the White House. Rising seas and other climate effects are likely to cause mass movements of people all over the world which could add to further destabilization.

    • toddyo1935

FYI – The largest solar maximum in 3,000 years has come to an end. That explains why we’ve had 19+ years of no significant temperature rise and the ice caps are growing. Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.

Just as lack of water is deemed to be the major contributor to future war. Can you people make up your minds? Is it too much water or not enough? But honestly, the real problem with the pentagon releasing this as this time is it is not serious, it is political expediency to take the heat off Obama for his pathetic, inconsequential efforts in defeating ISIS. .

      • JMax

You think that rising salt water oceans and potable drinking water are somehow equivalent? The Pentagon releases these reports every few years, including during the Bush administration.

What is YOUR solution for defeating ISIS?

        • Steve Fair

You know these guys never answer direct questions. They can only grunt “Obama sucks”.

        • dandlac

Okay dumbhead, let me spell it out for you. First, your inability to percieve satire is magnificent – did you get that one. Still I will work with you on this one…water is not the issue whether it is too much or too little, can you somehow come to grips with the reality that it is merely a “crisis created” to invoke their will/demands/control over you and me?
So, now that we have covered that ground, I will, by your question, make the valid assumption that you have no military or combat experience (not unlike our “savior” BHO). Anyone that has any combat experience whatsoever knows that you defeat any enemy with overwhelming combined arms combat assault. You cannot accomplish that with periodic pin pick air strikes as our ‘savior” is presently engaged (but only to make it appear as if he is doing something of consequence – which he is not.) In order to do that, you have to have competent Soldiers on the ground with combined arms capabilities including Field Artillery, Armor, Infantry and Close Air Support (and of course the supporting logistical trains and lines of communication). With one heavy infantry division composed of three combat brigades, we could quickly destroy ISIS in detail – and in doing so send a resounding signal to all the other evill doers around the world. But first we have to have a Commander in Chief with the willpower and the courage to do so. We do not. We have a commander in chief (note the use of lower case letters) who is more complicit and concerned for the enemy (in this case radical Islam) than the citizens of America – of which he is not truly one, regardless of the status of his damn birth certificate or college transcripts, etc. You have to WANT to be an American to BE an American.

          • JMax

I’m a bit reticent to spend time replying to someone who uses the language of a 4 year-old in his salutation or who apparently confuses snark with satire. But, what the hell….

“can you somehow come to grips with the reality that it is merely a “crisis created” to invoke their will/demands/control over you and me?”

No. It’s not reality. It’s delusion.

“make the valid assumption that you have no military or combat experience”, It is not a valid assumption.

“you defeat any enemy with overwhelming combined arms combat assault.”

Tell that to someone in a tan beret.

My “savior” is Jesus Christ. Who is yours?

“But first we have to have a Commander in Chief”

“We have a commander in chief (note the use of lower case letters)”

            Nothing like consistency.

“of which he is not truly one” Oh gawd.

Seems like wanting to be president of the United States is a pretty strong case for wanting to be an American.

    • sinz54

      That’s not the Pentagon’s job.

      The Pentagon’s job is warfighting.

Dealing with the root causes of war is the job of the State Department.

Besides, another root cause of war is Islamic extremism. But if the Pentagon put out statements on that, liberals would be yelling “Islamophobia.”

Well, it looks like the Pentagon has a case of global warming phobia. So do most liberals.

      • JMax

The Pentagon’s job is to also recognize the risks, probabilities, locations, and scope of possible future wars in order to be prepared to fight them.

Why do you think that our southern border is wide open and Ebola has taken a foothold in our country. Everything in this administration is political. Global Warming is junk science and therefore a political issue, Isis and Ebola are political issues, and every emergency situation that comes up is a political issue. No information can be released until after the mid-term elections, and after the election, in two years is the general election so nothing can be released until after that one. So, those that think Global Warming is our greatest enemy just haven’t looked at our politicians yet.

  • Jim

Really Goldberg, Your just now figuring this out??? I think your a little behind the curve!!!

  • gbandy

The scary thing is the broken promises. From transparency to all the scandals it just seems like this Administration considers the voters like they are all fools. Just take Obama’s own words about Benghazi, ISIS, Obamacare and now Ebola. Not stopping flights from African “in order to protect African economies” is insanity. So America is at risk the country Obama swore to protect. Imagine if YOU were on a flight along with 200 others sitting next to a Ebola carrier? Now looking at our borders and allowing tens of thousands to enter Illegally and the ones that are caught are just let go. Insanity is the name of this Administration and all the polls are not reflecting that the Nation agrees.

As usual, Bernie, you’re spot on. There is a pattern here with Barack Obama. It’s now becoming redundant. Obama’s game has been exposed. He’s predictable. America: founded on the best principles any nation has ever been founded (in my opinion a distillation of all the best of my home nation, England, with the monarchy and a national church removed).
I cannot tell you how much I loathe Obama for the damage he is trying to inflict on the US by trying to make it more like the statist/collectivist continent of Europe. You know the place, the one that produced the legendary thinkers Marx and Engels from which grew the wonderfully productive political movements of Communism, Socialism, Fascism and Nazism.
All branches from the same tree.
What a deeply, deeply misguided individual and totally unfit to be President.
I simply do not believe he has a clue what leadership really is, perhaps we’re lucky on that.

    • Iggy Autry

Perhaps the bigger problem is that he’s part of generations now of the best educated who have been indoctrinated by post-colonial, neo-Marxist ideologies generated in France and continental to dump third world colonial anger onto the US in order to curb the power it had after WWII…

In short, Obama is not alone.

Clinton was one of them too, but he cared more about personal popularity and being a shallow politician than he did fighting for what they stand for and suffering disapproval…. That is why the media and Hollywood and others of like mind in key social institutions tossed Hillary aside for Obama in the first place. — That is why I believe they will toss her aside again if they can find a true-believer they can trust + sell to the masses as a “moderate” like they did Obama…

      • David Nelson

Yes, Obama is only a symptom of a mass delusion.

  • David

The “civilians” who manage our military have completely co-opted all of the best traditions with their collective, far left-wing lunacy… the same exact thing they have done with the DOJ, IRS, VA, NASA, etc. They have damaged this country socially and politically that I fear it will take at least a generation to correct this damage, if it CAN be corrected. We have devolved into the laughing stock of the world. Pathetic.

  • Uncle Dave

Seeing what this country has become in the last 6-years; I don’t know if I want to cry or scream… or maybe a screaming cry of “get these deadly lunatics out of our government!!” (Obama and frineds). The population that continues to vote for these self-serving vile persons must be either a) completely out of touch, b) completely ignorant, or c) self-serving vile people themselves.

  • John H

    • nickshaw

The smart money is on PC.

    • David Nelson

Well, Ebola may kill thousands, perhaps in a really big scare, a million. PC, which is essentially Marxism with a smiley face pasted over it, has already killed tens of millions. Liberal “Peace in our time” led to 50 million deaths worldwide. PC ‘peace’ may well lead to tens of millions more.

  • gold7406

The supports and constituents of this administration are sheep and goats. The sheep will follow in any situation and the goats will eat up an garbage they are fed.
Some one that can’t find a job, as many are under this administration, I would be willing to bet, in his list of priorities, climate change isn’t even on the radar screen.

  • RickonhisHarleyJohnson

Let’s not forget the inherent hatred of all things military, from the liberal left. That drives a lot of this administration’s policy. While we all hate war (at least I hope most do), the left hates the warriors who protect and defend us.

  • Iggy Autry

If the masses had been given a chance before the elections to know how Obama was raised, educated, and then trained, they would understand why he does what he does – and why he is still supported by the educated Left who control certain key institutions:

For people smart enough not to have gone to university, you won’t understand an Obama. I’ll explain it like this: If you walked into a college department at any sizable or respectable school across the land, and you said, “I’m a Nazi. That’s the best social theory mankind has invented so far” – and you were a professor in that department – you’d be out of a job in no time…

…But…You can walk into any of those same departments and say, “I’m a Marxist post-colonialist…” and nobody will blink because you won’t be alone. At minimum you’ll be on very friendly grounds…

…despite the fact the 20th century was pretty much a test-tube for that thought-system, and to say it proved to be a fantastically horrible failure is a gigantic understatement. I’d even say if we stacked up the death toll for colonialism against that of Marxism, we’d have a hard time distinguishing the two…

I’ll even excuse Obama for keeping it dear to his heart, because he was raised, educated, then trained on those beliefs mostly before the collapse of the Soviet Union and global communism – at which point the world should have had to admit the horrors and agree there was no hope those Marxist nations were going to get it right eventually…

But, when you have young professors and students today – who were born after that collapse – who still proudly say out loud in the hallowed halls of academia that they are believers in that ideology in general – sanity has left the building – and history has been erased from memory – and you are no longer talking about “education” —– you are fully in the realm of “indoctrination” —

Obama will not understand what Mr. Goldberg is talking about, because to people like him, the he is simply trying to replace the political, colonial nature of the military and all government agencies, and do what he can to push us in the better direction…. If Global Warming hysteria and Obamacare and financial penalties for the coal-based power plants and other things lead to the collapse of the military-industrial complex and the strength necessary to carry out imperialism —- good —– then we can start to rebuild to the better America many always dreamed of…

….Like Nero did in classical Rome…..

  • Iggy Autry

I don’t think people like Obama or in academia will have any idea what Mr. goldberg is talking about. The military has always been political. NASA too. Even the media – which is actually corporate and thus right-wing. — They are all part of that vast military-corporate complex which infects all aspects of American and Western society – making virtually everything about imperialism and colonialism.

So, if making the military overly concern about Golbal Warming makes it less effective – less militaristic – goodie!!!

Maybe if our military is as effective as that of Paraguay, stupid people won’t be pressuring Obama to do something about ISIS- when it is clear to any correct thinking post-colonialist that that is imperialistic thinking. ISIS is none of our business. Besides, they are actually just retaking the oil fields they USE stole from them in the war. (This was actually said to me this week by a carpool mate -a former ACLU lawyer born and raised in the US and Ivy League educated.)

See. This has always been political. The military was our forceful arm of imperialism. A right- wing, horrible thing whether led by a Democrat or Republican.

You guys act like you never went to college.

    • John

Would you like a refill on your koolaid?

      • Iggy Autry

It is not Koolaid to Obama and a sizable percentage of the professors in the humanities and plenty of indoctrinated graduate students – especially at the better schools. In Europe, I imagine these thoughts are even more common. I know they are in South Korea – esepcially among the educated.

      • toddyo1935

Behold, the ramblings of a recent college grad.
      Thanks for dropping by.

    • ksp48

Gibberish. There was a bit of that when I was in college (not so much when I was at Harvard Law). Thanks for the example at how pervasive its become. I assume that you still have to come up with the correct answer in Calculus regardless of the surrounding gibberish. Correct?

    • Bob Olden

What mystifies me is that there seem to be so few free thinking college students who defy the groupthink that is being foisted on them. I know that a large number are intellectually lazy, but it used to be attractive to be cynical about what the majority believed. Don’t they realize that they are only getting one side of the story from left leaning faculty?

      • Iggy Autry

No, I don’t think they realize it or even if they do they don’t care. College is not about learning to think for yourself anymore. It isn’t about being able to argue both sides of an issue. It is about picking the layer of BS you agree with most and majoring in it…

Education today is about indoctrination. If the indoctrination you get in this or that department isn’t your cup of tea, you move to one that does match your world view.

The Left says this is why you find so few conservatives in the Humanities – though they don’t state it like that. But, the biggest point they miss is – another reason you stick with the BS that matches your world-view is —– if you go against the indoctrination – they will —- grind you down – slowly but surely – until you leave.

Serious college study is taxing – especially if you have no money as a poor student – but when virtually every professor in a department thinks opposite of you on most things – you learn — you are not welcome. In some odd cases, an activist prof might even display open hostility to you – but even without that – you learn you are tolerated in class – but your ideas are not – and you will be scrutinized more.

Conservatism allowed exclusionary hiring practices in the media and academy and Hollywood… We are paying for it now….

  • Josh

If it rains and floods certain locations and crops cannot grow, it’s global warming.
If it’s a drought in a certain location and crops cannot grow, it’s global warming.
If it’s too hot and fresh water and sanitation is a problem, it’s global warming.
If it’s too cold and commerce is affected in shipping, it’s global warming.
If people get fed up that they don’t have food or water, it’s global warming.

The list of things that aren’t because of global warming is exceedingly shorter.

Even if global warming were causing all these things and more, America has *$*#-all in terms of solutions. What? Cap and Trade — hit the big polluters the hardest with regulations. Make light bulbs illegal. Force people to recycle again.

Government cannot make life fair for all citizens. It cannot keep everyone safe. Now we’re expected to put faith in this inept body to save the friggin’ planet? They’ve been watching too many movies.

One thing the doomsayer’s version of global warming has going for it: It’s diverse. Those charts Al Gore cooked up in his basement have everyone drowning equally.

    • Iggy Autry

You’ve got it. The foundation of thought on the left is some mythical society with “equitable” systems that never was and never can be. It is the undefined core that animates all layers of their thought like Foucault looked for in continental Europe in the modern age.

Left Post-Modernism has at its core a fantasy which they are heck bent on driving America to accomplish like trying to squeeze a square peg into a round hole…

Politicians are incredibly shortsighted, typically only viewing things in terms of their terms. This is an outlier of an issue, in that they think they’re looking really far ahead at future generations. But that’s rubbish. This world is going to change going forward. Plate tectonics are still happening. Continents are going to drift. Volcanoes are going to erupt. Ice ages are going to happen again. These things will directly hit future generations, and there isn’t a damn thing a large, controlling government is going to do about it. At best, they’ll build silos to keep their important people safe — which will undoubtedly include only elected officials and friends of elected officials. But if the seas are going to rise, taxing polluters and knighting Leonardo DiCaprio is not going to stop them.

Recycling is as taxing on the environment as mining and refining fresh materials. The USA could go completely green and absolutely bury the country permanently under ineffective solar and wind power, and still China and India would make up that difference.

I’m not from the school of doing nothing when all hope seems lost. But this is different. This is politicians not having an answer at all. They hit the panic button on awareness, seemingly solely so they can gain support. I know the Obama admin’s “answers” in particular ranged from backing loans for failed ventures to making colorful, chest-pounding speeches — neither of which worked out in the slightest.

IMHO, government should STFU and let the scientists carry the torch for things which require a scientific mind. These bozos are not smart enough to interpret scientific data on their own, much less present actual solutions that don’t rely solely on buzz words and emotion. Just as I feel scientists should be the ones creating the science standards in schools, not governments and not parents, scientists should also be the ones looking for solutions. Once you blend social issues with voting, every ice cube gets turned into a Titanic-sinking glacier.

    Agreed, Bernie,
When one human being can go golfing after learning that a person, for whose safety he is responsible, gets beheaded: IT’S POLITICAL. Many many high crimes and misdemeanors coming out of this admin.

Bernie doesn’t what to hear about the “many crimes and misdemeanors coming out of this administration.” Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg and for that matter most of Fox news is in denial that Barack Hussein Obama used fraudulent documents in his rise to power. Barack does not have a legitimate American birth certificate thus the two forgeries he has produced, one of which is a computer generated forgery he showed to the world on April 27th, 2011. Barack never registered with the Selective Service prior to his run for President and used his Indonesian citizenship as his reason for not registering and to attain his financial help at Occidental. His SS# (042-68-4425) has been flagged several times by E-Verify for being seriously fraudulent. Bernie and Bill and all of Fox refuse to interview those who have been investigating these crimes for 3 years now. Why are they afraid to write about, talk about or interview those DIRECTLY involved in collecting the mounds of evidence supporting their claims?

Could it be they just don’t put credence in this stuff and find it to be far too conspiratorial to even address? Why does it have to be “afraid”?

Maybe it’s the suits in the NewsCorp head office that put the ka-bosh on any such investigation. Besides, O’Reilly’s busy writing his “killing” this and that books–makes more money and is easier.

          • Josh

I know. The guy has a new book every 5 months. His co-writer, I suspect, does the overwhelming majority of the work, while O’Reilly’s name and platform actually handle the marketing.

As to the quality of the books, I couldn’t say; I’ve yet to read one in Bill’s “Killing” series. I got my mom the Killing Lincoln one Christmas, but there’s been a bunch more since.

As for suits at NewsCorp, I often defer to those with a more poetic sensibility than myself. So, in the words of the great Scott Weiland, it’s all in the suit that you wear.

We think alike and agree. I threw out that sentence purposely. Things are far more serious than people are aware of – or are willing to recognize.
