You Know Who Trump's Media Groupies Remind Me Of?
I kept wondering who the so-called conservatives on talk radio and Fox News – the ones who have passionately embraced Donald Trump -- reminded me of.
I kept wondering how these proud, true-blue conservatives could think McCain and Romney weren’t conservative enough, but somehow think Trump is.
It was baffling.
But more than anything else, I couldn’t connect the dots as to why conservatives would continue to heap praise on Donald Trump even after he accused President Bush of lying to get us into the war in Iraq. Not of making a mistake. Not of acting on bad intelligence. But of lying.
Here’s what Trump said on national television at one of the many presidential debates: “They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction and there were none. And they knew there were none.”
Isn’t that Code Pink’s position? For a Republican running for president to make such a slanderous allegation is beyond contemptible. It’s downright inexcusable. But his adoring fans in the media excused him anyway.
Why, I kept wondering, would these conservatives be so willing to throw their dignity into the gutter for a guy who is their friend only because he can count on them to kiss his rear end on TV and radio?
Who did these Trump groupies remind me of? The question kept me awake at night. Then it hit me:
They remind me of the schoolgirls who have a crush on Justin Bieber.
At least the schoolgirls have an excuse. They’re schoolgirls.
